they say confirmed, for such a big announcment I don't think they'd be playing around.

though if it is true, i'd be willing to put my money on a release about 3 to 6 months after the PS3 release. But as time goes on, such an enormous multi-million dollar contract will need to recoup their investment somehow, and right now the PS3 is REALLY lagging behind and doesn't look to be getting better.

MGS4 Rumored for Xbox 360
Is Konami forcing Kojima's hand?

US, December 18, 2006 - With Microsoft's one-year-old console gaining a steady install base in North America and Europe, Konami executives have switched their positions on an outright Metal Gear Solid 4-PlayStation 3 exclusive, telling Hideo Kojima to bring the game to Xbox 360, says Electronic Gaming Monthly in its December issue.

One year ago Konami's Hideo Kojima was quoted as saying that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was technically possible on Xbox 360. Now it's not only technically possible, it's perhaps financially feasible as well. EGM's rumor mill produced the short article and it's worth noting that no sources were supplied, no quotes were given, and no reasoning was provided behind the alleged move. It's pure rumor, one that Konami executives have refused to comment on or entertain in public since the game's announcement on PlayStation 3. When contacted today, Konami officials said "These are just rumors."

Still, the notion that MGS4 could come to Xbox 360 makes a little more sense today than it did four months ago. Back then, we couldn't see the state of disarray that Sony was in. Now, with Sony's rough launch, limited unit numbers and high price tag, perhaps Konami executives are seeing how fiscally prudent an Xbox 360 version would be. That doesn't mean it is happening. It's still just a rumor; but one worth mulling over.

Intressting read, and tbh im couldn't really give a shit wether it went to the xbox 360 4-5 months after its release on the PS3, which is the only veasable option.

and i quote from someone before

"they want it so bad"

That still isn't getting you whatever amount of money back that you spent on a busted PS2.

alright, MGS is a most often sony exclusive, though MGS2 showed up on xbox.

right now ps3's last thing saving it is MGS4, which is exclusive, ps3's don't have enough buyers and is too expensive and too hard to find. MGS4 is costing a lot of money to produce, so put them together. Konami needs to recoup its investment, and seeing as how 360 is nearing 10 million sold in north america, that means a lot more money to be made. there you go.

that's cool, i never said it was completely confirmed, i simply said EGM says it is. what's wrong with EGM?

also just to let you know, ALL games companies respond to non-official information as rumor, in fact microsoft has never responded to rumors until the official information was released. GTA4 was once RUMORED to be on xbox 360, but Take-Two refused to say anything...then it happened tah dah.

right now, it makes a LOT of sense for Konami to release it for 360. A 10 million vs. 400,000 install base makes a HUGE difference

Not if that 10 million becomes stagnant at 20 million and that 400,000 grows to over 100 million, again. You realize the size of the fanbase the PS3 is coming from, right? Oh wait, I forgot, fanboys have selective memories, it's a good thing developers don't.

I think Metal Gear Solid is crappy (basing that on the one i played) and yes i have to admit that i do want it badly on the Xbox 360 just to see the Sony fanboys faces and hear them whining and bitching

This is everywhere right now.

The only thing Konami have said is "We have no plans as of yet".

Just remember, UbiSoft also said that about Assassins Creed. I for one have no interest in this Game before someone nit-picks my post.

That's not too likely given that the PS3 costs twice as much as the PS2 did at launch. The PS2 was the fastest selling console ever at launch and that was driven by an affordable price and promise of the great exclusives PS1 enjoyed. The PS3 isn't affordable to most people, and their exclusives are trickling off.

If GTA4 isn't cross-platform, GTA5 will be. Likewise with FF13/14

Not everyone that bought a PS2 is part of the playstation fanbase. In fact, no one I know personally even intends to get a PS3. On top of that, the playstation fanbase is diminishing quickly because of another terrible launch, deceptions, and the price.

The biggest reason the PS2 sold so well next to the Gamecube and XBox really comes down to a single factor. It was out first. Because of that, it quickly became "the console" to get. Now, nearly a year behind it's biggest opposition, and with several of it's biggest titles going cross-platform, the PS3 has an extremely long and steep up hill battle.

Sure, it might end up having a decent track record when we look back ten years later, but this gen belonged to the 360 before the PS3 was even released.

Go ahead. Tell me I'm wrong. Hell, I might even end up being wrong. But I'm 100% positive that the PS3 will land far behind the 360, and possibly even the Wii this gen.

I agree.. I've played a few of them and they were probably, in my opinion, some of the worst games I've ever played. It just felt like a boring and stupid game to me. So I don't really care if MGS4 comes out for 360 or not.
It's funny to see the fanboys on the forums bicker amongst themselves.
Gamespot has the absolute worst fanboys though.

Yes. And if my aunt had testicles she would in fact be my uncle.

While we're at it, what if everyone stops buying the Ipod and starts to buy ka-billions of Zunes instead?

agreed 100%.

over the years i have owned,
gameboy,nes,snes,n64,ps1,ps2,x360.

im no ms or sony or Nintendo fanboy, i couldn't give a fuck what company makes the console. i care about the games. recently, sony has lost alot of its exclusives which would have given it a huge advantage over the xbox.

assassins creed, gta4, maybe mgs, if that goes all they really have it GTHD and resistance.

compare that with ms. they still have the big sellers in halo and gears plus all of the recently acquired titles. this along with a more affordable price for what is (in terms of performance) a really similar machine equals a winning formula which will, imo, allow the 360 to dominate this generation like the ps2 dominated a few years back

GT:HD was cancelled and is just a tech demo.

it's basically the HD version of gran turismo 4.

they scrapped that and are currently working on 5 which is slated for release in 2008.

It had a ton of crap nobody really wanted. Zing.

But really, I wish I had a Dreamcast instead of my PS2/GC/Xbox, the Games on that thing were awesome.

Yeah, that's why a bunch of it got ported.

You could always buy one second hand for not much, and there are still games being made for it.
