I always like to mess around with all of the features on my electronics to see everything it's capable of so I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not. I'll share anyway.
Transferring and playing video's on your Wii is suprisingly easy. All you need is a SD card, like the ones used in any camera will work. Here's what I bought, got it on sale for 30 bucks
SanDisk 2Gig SD card (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7640699&type=product&cmp=++&id=1134698297631)
You can buy the official Nintendo SD card but it's the same as any thing else out there and you're going to fork over about $100
Then you need a way to transfer the videos from your pc to your SD card...again, I bought this for $15 but any would work:
SD Card Reader (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6785393&st=sd+card+reader&type=product&id=1089890841617)
The only other thing you need now is this program which will convert your video's from what ever format they might be in, to one that the wii will play:
Download Wii Video 9 here (http://www.redkawa.com/videoconverters/wiivideo9/) You only need to d/l and install WiiVideo9 for this to work
or here (http://dl.qj.net/Wii-Video-9-Applications-Wii-Homebrew/pg/12/fid/11730/catid/526) or just Google it.
To sum it up just run the converter software then drag and drop your movies onto the card and your done! The software couldn't be easier to use too.
But if you run into a problem, or haven't done anything like this before...
Download and install Wii Video 9. Start up the WiiVideo9 software, click the 'convert' tab at the top, then click the 'One Click Convert' button. A box will pop up for you to find you movie file that you wish to convert. It will convert the movie (for me, a 1 min clip will only take about 10seconds) and place it in the output folder (for me it's "C:\Program Files\Red Kawa\Video Converter\Videos\Wii\MJPEG")
Now just plug your SD card into your SD card reader, then into your USB port on your PC. Your PC will instantly recognize it (if your running windows xp). You just open 'My Computer' and you'll see the device. Just drag and drop your files. Then put the SD card back into the Wii and go your Wii's picture channel. Your movies should show up in there.
I've heard you can also put music on your SD card, and then obviously you can put pictures on it.
So far, I've got nothing but classic nintendo commercials from the 80's and 90's...and the N64 kid of course :D
