More information

This tool generates several flavours of North American Caller ID, allowing you to hear what Caller ID sounds like or even, under certain circumstances, to place arbitrary messages in Caller ID Display Devices. You can play the emulated Caller ID live through your sound card or save to a .WAV file* for later playback or distribution.

This has no purpose

To emulate regular Caller ID, you have to be physically present at the
Caller ID Terminal, where you would have to connect a phone line
emulator (expensive piece of test equipment) to generate the ringing
voltage that the terminal uses to know when to expect a Caller ID signal
to come in. Almost immediately after the ring voltage is applied, you
would send the emulated Caller ID signal.

Unless you are sitting in their living room monitoring their line voltage, you won't know when to play the tone. Cool concept, but if it were that easy, don' tou think we all would do it?
