I hope im not the only person that thinks the new so called 'Heavy Metal' bands e.g Trivium, Bullet for my Valentine, Funeral for a Friend (the list goes on and on and on and on) are horrible excuses for band's. In my view they are just Heavy Metal boybands, commercialised trash. Its like some guy looks for a guitarist,drummer,bassist e.g and tries to make a band out of them, Christ trivium have a Chinese Immigrant singer.

Real heavy metal bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest have recent output. Also, lesser known bands like Wolf, Twisted Tower Dire, Manilla Road, Battleroar, and Pharaoh. Metalcore bands are just getting all of the publicity and being mistake for true metal by the masses. All of the good stuff is underground.

Bullet and Trivium are metalcore bands. FFAF is a shitty emo band.

I have all of Trivium's albums, yet also I have tons of Slayer, Emperor, Behemoth, Amon Amarth, etc. They aren't exactly heavy metal, but I'd say they're worth a listen.

IMO metal died when it began its relationship with alternative. I know I will get flamed for this, but I like being able to make out what the singer is saying rather than picking up a lyric sheet to make out his incoherant screaming.

70s, 80s, and power metal is where it is all at.

considering they only have 3 albums out, and i'm sure they're not going back to their old sounds, the crusade is a pretty fair judge of what they're going to be in the future.

You guys don't know shit. I've been into metal core for a WHILE now and its not like it is a fucking brand new thing. Anyone here ever heard of Integrity? This was one of the first metal core bands I had ever heard.

They have been around since the 80's. In fact, there are a lot of metal core bands that have been around for a while. Biohazard, Leeway, Madball are all examples. A lot of this stuff was similar to NYHC bands, which I am familiar with because I live in upstate NY.


All I'm saying is every genre of music will eventually reach the masses. Once it does, it is either going to die and stay in the underground, or spill out onto the charts. Don't hate an entire genre because you only see the explosion of it.

Definitely. I enjoy Raunchy, Ion Dissonance and Despised Icon too. Most people seem to hate metalcore on the basis that fans of the genre (at least the garden variety pop metalcore) tend to be loathsome, which is never the right way to judge any kind of music.

If it helps, I have all of those bands in the same folder on my computer.

I'm thinking of changing my system and combining post rock and post metal. When music is so atmospheric, it transcends genres and so it seems better to have both combined.
