official NPD sales in, 360 sells more than wii and ps3 combined

wow, quite amazing sales numbers, completely different from what i thought. so far for next gen it's 1.360 2.wii 3. ps3 and ps2 continues to sell well, the PSP had a sales spike and Nintendo DS continues to dominate the handhelds by far. interesting numbers here.

the wii sales are surprising in that they are not as high as i expected, and sony isn't TOO far behind the wii, but both are really behind the 360. supply is not too big of an issue, because even wii's overall sales only match 360's december sales.

Again Xbox 360 one year ahead. We'd have to stop figures here and wait for Wii and PS3 sales. You could divide the sales by months and be valid. But on a year basis its not valid at all. Thats like saying 9 of 10 doctors use Aspirin in reality the only asked 10 doctors.

Er, no they didn't. The Wii is impossible to find, they sold all they shipped. It's just ridiculous that they couldn't produce more than 600k for the US. Although these are US numbers and Wii is out everywhere in the world now.

Sony says they shipped 1 million PS3's.. so there are 300k on store shelves.

This chart here says the Wii is having a better launch than the 360 did, and the ps3 at this point is doing better tahn the 360 did at it's early stages.

Realize it's first 6 months after launch, not the numbers as of right now.

I'm not saying any console will be lose, I'm saying just wait it out before you compare these things.

Even having a year in advance to the others, the 360 hasn't even sold 10 million consoles yet, while the Wii, soon 2 months after its realease, has almost sold 4 million, the ps3 just surpassed 1 million.

Let's say the Wii keeps selling at a rate of 2 millions consoles per month, like it's going on at the moment, it would sell 28 million consoles during the same bracket of time that the 360 is out now. Which means that eventually, Nintendo will sell 3 times more Wii's than the 360.

Everybody I know wants a Wii. Huge majority of people I know can't buy a Wii because there is none in stock. And alot people I know are ps2 fanboys which is shocking.

after reading a bit, there is one big retailer NPD doesn't facter into their sales...WALMART. so the numbers are lower, put the numbers a bit more up and you got the best sales data.

It's total numbers of consoles that counts, and how many games people buy. That's why xbox never came close to passing the ps2.

You come to the party late, and it will hurt your sales. That's just business. The wii is doing ok because it's a very different product.
