View Full Version : If the Saints Win the SuperBowl.. Is the NFL fixed??

So i've been thinking, forget about all the ingored holding calls and all the calls made only on 3rd down. Think back to 9/11 the Partiots win the SuperBowl, so what team/city needs money and the national spot light? The New Orleans Saints do.
So i just want to go on the record now and call this BS before it happens

Maybe it would be because they are a good team...?
That being said, they may be good in the NFC, but the only ring the NFC will bring home is the one for second place.

i've been worried about that. i'd like to think it's not fixed, but it's getting awfully suspicious

I do definitely believe that the NFL is fixed partcially. Watching the Bears/Seahawks game especially. The Bears got too many calls their way, especially on spots. Berrian in the fourth quarter was at least a yard short, maybe even more, yet they gave him the first. But who really knows.

I've been seeing a lot more BS calls lately than anything. The SD NE game had a ton both ways.
EDIT: Sometimes teams that don't "deserve" to win win. Plain and simple.

WTF, of course it's not fixed you ignoramus. That is beyond rediculous. Do you honestly think the the Saints success is because the defenses they play against just let them run down the field and score? What the fuck are you talking about?

If it was fixed then the saints would have won LAST YEAR, not this year

The only time in sports I really thought I was watching fixed games was the 2002 nba western finals Lakers vs Kings. I've never seen such horrible calls consistently against one team over a series like that. But the reality is referees just make horrible mistakes sometimes (tuck rule anyone?) It did seem weird that the Patriots won the SB after 9/11, but as we see now they're a legit dynasty.
The Saints are a pretty good team. Remember Aaron Brooks use to be their QB... they could have brought in a random person off the street and doubled their win total from last year :bigwink:

Wow, funny this thread has been made. Just last week my baseball coach was bitching about how the NFL was fixed and I was just disagreeing with him on every point he made. He claimed that every week the NFL officials and people of importance meet and decide what team the game should be called for(Of course this doesn't mean that the team will always win, you can control the calls but you can't control the players). There are also several major events in the NFL the past 7 or so years that could point to this actually happening(Most recently the Squeelers last year). If the saints win the superbowl then the NFL better watch out.

If it was fixed why wasn't redskins vs. bills, jets, or giants in the superbowl.

No he wasn't... from that side angle they showed, the ball was over the first down marker, then he was pushed backwards two yards.

I said this months back.
I remember the ESPN w@nkfest at the monday night game .Atlanta vs saints.
I lost track of the amount of times the word "emotion" was used by the ESPN panelists.
The saints have been promoted by ESPN as everyones 2nd favourite team behind your own team.
Last years superbowl was suspicious. It was promoted as the "jerome bettis homecoming" game and the steelers get a series of terrible calls in their favour.

they got a massive following in the midwest.
would you say they were the leagues best supported team?
the seahawks dont even have a fraction of the steelers popularity.
the pre game stuff was all about jerome bettis and his emotional homecoming.
maybe a seahawks superbowl win ruins the whole media story they cooked up ,spoils it for the crowd who were 80% steeler fans and means the huge steelers fanbase dont fork out $$$$ on superbowl winners merchandise.
back on topic though..
new orleans would be a huge headline .
town destroyed by hurricane wins romantic superbowl final.
I can just see it now.

So because the Steelers have a big fanbase around the country means they had a lot to gain by "rigging" the Superbowl?
Leagues best supported team??? HAHAHAHA, I don't think any team in the NFL is "best supported", and if there were, it sure as hell wouldn't be the Steelers.
Yeah there was a lot of pre-game hype about Jerome Bettis, what's your point? Again, how did it benefit the NFL by rigging the Superbowl? "Spoil it for the crowd"? That's a joke right? You really think what was going through the minds of the NFL staff the entire night, "I don't want all those fans leaving disappointed, so what were going to do is tell the refs to call penalties on the Seahawks that they make"...makes a lot of sense, so caring for the NFL to go out of their way for "the fans"..

Uhh, you mean the New England Patriots? New England had nothing to do with 9/11. Your statement makes no sense.
Also, the petition makes no sense... what are you trying to petition? Are you trying to get rid of the NFL? Are you trying to fire the officials? That petition is an incoherent mess with no point.

Not only do I 100% agree with your post...but it's like I said, what benefits to the NFL get out of it? Absolutely none...
Do people really think that there are people that watched that Superbowl afterwards were thinking "Wow, the Patriots won the Superbowl, I feel more completely confident about our situation with the war...thanks NFL, I feel a lot better now"....fucking people are morons.

Exactly. If I recall, 9/11 didn't last 4 years. Maybe...just maybe the Patriots are good? Nah, couldn't be. It's not like they have a great D or a clutch QB, that's impossible. And we all know that the Saints don't have a great QB and the #1 offense. Nope...:rollseyes

No, the NFL is not fixed. Referees make mistakes. That's why we have instant replay. And sometimes, they still fail to make the right call, but they're human.
And sometimes, strange things happen (Immaculate Reception, anyone?).
That's why football is so great.
And John Elway shall forever burn in Hell for his "Drive" in the '87 AFC Championship game.

The browns have arguable one of the BIGGEST fan bases in the NFL, and they have probably the biggest fan club. Just because they love to talk about the Dallas on ESPN doesn't make them the most popular. They are one of the most valuable teams in the NFL
The Browns are worth as much if not more then the NEW YORK YANKEES, and the current team is only an 8th year expansion team.

It's funny how this thread was deleted by the thread starter the moment his claim the NFL was fixed was shown to be nothing more than a conspiracy pulled out of his ass. If the Saints had won, he would bump this thread and parade without any facts other than the Saints winning, that indeed the NFL is fixed. So I thought I'd restore the thread and bump it (maybe I'll sticky it for a few weeks).
