Soooo.... What are some of your favorite games that you think a lot of people havent heard of/played/really liked?
Mine are:
Arcanum (PC): GREAT rpg from 2001. Has a steampunk kinda setting (In the late 1800's early 1900's) where the use of magic is just dieing out and technology is taking over. I still break this baby out a play every now and then. Great all around. If you can find it, give it a try
Return to Zork and Zork: Grand Inquisitor (PC): Part of the reason why I keep my old, shitty DOS computers around (Other reason is Ultima 7). These games also never get old. They really dont make enough classic adventure games anymore, everythings all about the action nowadays. The Zorks are sooo much fun, and very comical. Plus I miss the old live action style of a lot of old games (Having actual actors be the characters)
3D Movie Maker (PC): Geared towards the kiddies for the most part. Basically this was The Movies before The Movies came out, Except you didnt have to manage all the behind the scenes junk, it was just pure movie making. Ive made some ridiculous stuff on this (Take Dracula fending off terrorists in a shopping mall for example). Not exactly the most high tech game ever made, but loads of fun none the less (It was release in like '96 I think)
Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (PC): Probably pretty well known since Morrowind and Oblivion were released, But I bet many people havent played it before. This game was fucking HUGE. Tons of dungeons towns and everything. Makes Morrowind look like a demo. Plus the graphics were wonderful for its time, same with the first person view.
If you couldn't tell, im a fan of old PC games :bigwink:

Uhh I can't think of too many right now. I do remember this one, though.
Mort the Chicken
You were a chicken who ran around pecking stuff and saving chicks(the chicken kind). At the same time there were awesome and funny cutscenes of this news report and you were stopping an evil race of cubes from taking over the world. God DAMN this game was fun. 'Tis a shame I sold it v_v;

I started playing Arcanum but didn't get very far (lack of time). But when I quit my job, I'm going to finish NWN2 and continue playing Arcanum. From what I've played, it's a good RPG. :p

Wicked picks. Daggerfall was a milestone game-wise and conceptually - not only did it go on to influence games like Everquest but the amount of stuff it tackles is crazy. It's a shame Bethesda doesn't have that yearning for innovation anymore.

Spanky's Quest. (Super Nintendo)
Old arcade style game starring a monkey named Spanky. A witch brought all the fruit in his backpack to life and turned them against him. He has to defeat the fruit by bouncing a bubble on his head which, when popped, turns into a different kind of sports ball depending on how many times it was bounced. All the balls have different properties upon striking an enemy, making them suited to different situations. Collect keys to get through the door to the next level.
Really easy game, but the different features made it so much fun. He could find different hats which would give him different powers. (Awesome Bonus: Monkey wearing a hat.) And he could take over different weapons and machines after defeating the enemies controlling them.
I had this game when I was in the sixth grade, and I let a friend borrow it. He then, without my knowledge, let another friend borrow it. That friend denied ever having the game, and I never saw it again. Bought it off ebay a couple years ago, and it's still as awesome as ever.
The best part is the shorthand explanation: It's about Spanky the monkey who beats up fruits by hitting them with his balls.

Body Harvest for the N64. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_Harvest)
You could call it a sort of forerunner of GTA.
Basically, you are sent back in time to prevent an invasion of giant bug alien creatures. You get several different weapons to take them out, and you travel around giant maps, access several vehicles, and are even unable to swim (just like in GTA!).
It was an awesome game.

Damn, I gotta old copy of 3D movie maker gathering dust somewhere.
Total Annihilation on the pc was awesome, and pretty unheard of here in the UK, I used to come home from school when I was 12 and play that shit into the night.
Also, Deathrow on the Xbox. Fantastic game, futuristic sport action where you could win the match by beating the shit out of every opposing team member if you didn't fancy scoring points.

Earth 2140/50/60 were excellent games, hands down.
Earth and Beyond (wow, 2 Earth games) was my favorite MMO of all time for a while, and then it got cut down when Westwood Studios was dismantled by EA Games.
Gothic 2 was easily a rival for Morrowind in its time.
Hearts of Iron 2 is the ONLY grand strategy game worth playing.
And last of all, I have a soft spot for the old dos games Starflight 2, System Shock 1 (and 2 to an extent) and Quarantine.

Stronghold: Crusader, awesome RTS that involves building your own castle and the resource system to date.
I was gonna say that. I still play it from time to time. Nothing beats sending 50 cavalry out of your castle to crush your enemies catapults. I got pissed when my city kept catching on fire because Saladin kept attacking me with fire ballistas. Then I kicked his ass with 100 macemen.
Other games:
Worms II: im sure some people have heard of it but whatever.
Hegemonia Legions of Iron: Came out maybe 2004ish, it wasn't that popular but I loved it. It was basically an RTS in space. You could colonize planets, research stuff, and fight space pirates. Super fun. I forgot why I sold it.
Infinity Quest for Earth: Okay, this hasnt come out yet but there is a combat prototype on the website. I'm already addicted. www.fl-tw.com

Here's a video to what this game is like...the cool thing is if you don't complete some of the missions you'll have a different ending. If you did everything correctly the end is spectacular and you fall in love with that girl in the control room. If you let the asteroid hit the Earth in level 3 your ending will be you watching your mothership burn in fire and you hold your dead girlfriend's body, very sad.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhKXqEoEpy0
I'm much better than that guy in the video cause I actually kill EVERYTHING and owned every fucking level.

Cave Story (http://agtp.romhack.net/doukutsu.html) - "Cave Story is a freeware sidescrolling action/adventure/platformer title with leanings towards Wonderboy and recent sidescrolling Castlevania titles. You control a little amnesiac who runs around helping out these rabbit-ish creatures called Mimigas while trying to find your way out of the giant cave inside the floating island which makes up the game's setting.
You can expand your health meter by collecting Life Capsules in similar fashion to Metroid games, while you can get stronger by collecting energy to boost your firearms' output. Each weapon can be built up to the maximum level (3) fairly quickly, but taking damage will drain energy from its experience meter, sometimes causing it to level down. Given how quickly they power up this only tends to be an issue during boss fights, and even then there's usually plenty of opportunities for collecting more weapon energy.
The game has loads of secrets, too. Shih Tzu and I haven't found everything, and we've each played it through a couple of times (not to mention having read the script.) It's pretty awesome that way.
For a freeware Japanese platformer, it's fairly lengthy and has quite a large amount of text. I'd guesstimate that each playthrough, provided you knew what you were doing, would take about 4-6 hours. Tack on an extra couple of hours if you don't know what you're doing, possibly for extreme problems with nasty bosses (which this game has plenty of, especially towards the end.) We're also talking three very different endings, plenty of plot, and quite a cast of charming characters. It really is a superb little gem :)"
Make Sure that you download the English patch. This game has a good plot to it.
Within a Deep Forest (http://withinadeepforest.ni2.se/index.php?stuff=thegame) - "Within a Deep Forest is a freeware 2D platform game for Windows, featuring challenging gameplay, beautiful music, an evil doctor, infinite cuteness, and a deep forest." Oh, and it's pretty damn hard.

Holy shit, someone else who played this! Fuck, I could spend all day on this. I remember so much from this; the dude turning into a cheesecake, the actor profiles scattered around the place, the punching/crying sound effects, the group "aaah!" shock scream, and that skank on the rollerskates (not actually a skank, but I just felt like saying that). That game was fucking great.
Anyway, to stay with the thread I have a couple:
Tyrian 2000 (PC). Vertical shooter, y'know, the kind where you have a ship on the bottom of the screen and you shoot shit towards the top. Anyway, this game kicks ass. I replayed it about a year ago, but most of my memories come from when I was young and used to play this religiously. Secret levels, the big zeppelin things, the weapon upgrades (vulcan cannon for life), and the weak-ass plot. A must-play abandonware game (look it up on Home of the Underdogs).
Indigo Prophecy (PC and a few consoles). I just played it through again before I was writing this. The gameplay is not very good, but the plot is so good it more than makes up. The protagonist finds out that he was possessed and kills someone in a diner bathroom. The game starts out on figuring out what to do next. Unfortunately, this unlinear gameplay fades and becomes a generic adventure game (not point-and-click, thankfully). Many frustrating parts, such as the flashback stealth missions and glitches that end up killing you many times in one part. However, the plot just goes nuts from there as the protagonist tries to figure out what the fuck is going on. Your health meter of sorts is your emotional meter. Have good conversations, eat and drink, sleep, have sex, etc to raise the bar. If it falls to the bottom your character goes crazy or kills himself/herself. Stirred up some controversy for having sex scenes, but those were cut out in the American version along with the original title (Fahrenheit) due to confusion with that shitty Michael Moore "documentary" that was out at the time. The plot gets really stupid at the end (even the writer admitted it), but I feel like I'm just bashing this game. You'll find yourself thinking about the plot later on, whether it be a day or a year. Very underrated game.
Meteos (DS). Everyone I know that has a DS does not own this game. One person described it well as "Bejeweled on crack." Use the touchscreen to move pieces vertically to make groups of 3 similar blocks. They will then combust and take off; you can do combos to launch more blocks off screen. Different planets have different traits, some visual and some that change the gameplay. Pieces can be launched at enemies in competitive modes. This essentially is the DS equivalent of heroin.

I like some of the old Koei strategy games. Romance of the Three Kingdoms was their most famous, but I always liked Genghis Khan 2. Aerobiz was pretty fun too.
Also, the Harpoon series was the shit. I used to play Harpoon 2 before it stopped working because of windows compatibility issues. Hands down the most realistic strategy game ever. It just had zero graphics and was really complicated so it was never very successful.
Edit: I too liked Icy Tower. My friends and I got super competitive playing it Freshman year of college, it made for a good drinking game. I remember getting a 200 floor combo, but I forget what my score was.

Its an extremly cheap Xbox game, go pick it up anyone who has an Xbox. Tons of wicked gameplay and high replayability. You will like. disregard the gay name though.
Probably a game noone here has heard of: Mercenaries of AStonia.
was a small community of about 100-150 people. It was one of those rpg games where you loved it or hated it. I actually own a server of it, but I don't have any programmers to help me out with bugs, or a linux server to host it on. Actually, if anyone is interested in helping me out, leave your email here.

Two of my favs:
GTA San Andreas:
Awesome game but I haven't heard about many people playing it. Check it out if you can find it (its pretty rare)
Halo 2:
I love this game. Especially the multiplayer. I'd say its pretty unheard of because no one is ever online.

Quoted for the ultimate truth. That and DK 1. Why did peter molyneaux have to stop this series and start P.O.S games like Fable and Black and White 2?

Old school SNES RPG's including: 7th Saga, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy IV (for it's time, it was quite good!) Lufia 2, Paladins Quest.
I suppose I'm just a big RPG nut.

Live For Speed.net
Not much of a "game" really, but still, not well known but much loved by the ones who do.

A tale in the desert
An interesting MMORPG with NO combat, what so ever.
You build egypt, with many other people. Kinda cool
