I found this thread on IMDB and decided to remake it here where i'll get more imput.
When did the Halloween movie series start sucking cock?
Halloween - Was very good. 5/5
Halloween 2 - Was actually not half bad. It gets alot of criticizm but its pretty well done I think...it explaisn alot more. 3.5/5
Halloween 3 - Ok, so, no Mike Meyers. As a movie, it was ok, but it doesnt hold up in the series. 2/5
Halloween 4 - They brought Mike back but its the same old junk. 2/5
Halloween 5 - Shit. 1.5/5
Halloween 6 - Pretty shitty as well. 2/5
H20 - Up there with the worst. 1.5/5
Halloween 8 - I'm not even going to watch it. 1/5
Thoughts?
EDIT: I also heard Rob Zombie was planning on making his own Halloween (remake of first). I wonder if he'll go for the gusto and actually put it in theatres?

Halloween: One of the, if not the greatest, horror movie of all time. Definitely the #1 slasher film.
Halloween 2: It was average. Nothing great.
Halloween 3: To me? Utter crap. I hated it and wondered where the hell Michael was so he could butcher the people who made this.
Halloween 4, 5, and 6: Below average, typical slasher movies. The most boring type. A retread of Friday the 13th films, just with more suspense than usual.
Halloween H20: Personally, I really enjoyed it. They actually developed several characters (Laurie Strode, her son, Michael) and it made it much more tense. The deaths were particularly gruesome and it had two really great moments (1: When Laurie's son and his girlfriend were trapped behind the metal gate and Michael could nearly reach their necks with his knife. Then he noticed the dropped keys that he could use to unlock the gate on the floor and the couple believed they were screwed. 2: The ultimate showdown between Laurie and Michael. GREAT stuff.)
Halloween Resurrection: And then we get utter crap again. A reality show? The supposed DEATH of Laurie Strode? The hell?! That was one of the mainstays of the series! They should've had another Laurie versus Michael movie ala H1 and H20.
I'm hoping Zombie's remake is actually going to be good (unlike House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, which I thought were crap at best). I don't hold much hope for it though.

Obviously the first was amazing. One of the single greatest horror films of all time. Anyone tries to argue differently, they are wrong.
I've seen bits and pieces of 2-6, never really sure of which was which. None of them grabbing me enough to make me want to watch it begining to end.
H2O, I actually enjoyed. One of the better horror films of those years, and it was one that could really give some satisfaction to new age horror fans, and classic horror fans. It wasnt a great film, but it was fairly good. Like a 2 1/2 out of 4. Not nearly as good as Scream, but a bit better then I know What You Did Last Summer (thats another one a lot of people hate, but I found it passable).
And the last one, nothing really needs to be said. I dont think anyone liked it. Anyone at all.
And I'm nervous about Rob Zombie doing Halloween. Devil's Rejects was great, but it was completely unlike the Halloween style. Carpenter's silence and slowness was what made the first one so effective, and all Zombie has shwon is that he can do gore. Who knows. Maybe he can make a great, Halloween style horror film. I just dont want a gore film like Devil's Rejects was for Halloween. If its gonna be a gore-like film, just make an original film, dont tap into Halloween for it. Or better yet, make a Friday the 13th movie. I'd be fine with that. Cause even if it sucks, hes just further runing a series I never enjoyed.

I trust that Zombie won't mess up the remake. He knows not to ruin a classic.

The orginal Halloween is one of my favorite movies. All the rest are good fun. If halloween 3 was a stand alone movie it would have been ok, but people expected Michael wreking house.
I hope Zombie does a good job with the remake.
The original is a classic and one of the all-time greatest horror movies.
The 2nd wasn't THAT bad, but pretty much sucked.
All the rest were shit.
If Zombie remakes it, I hope he does it good. He doesn't seem like the right guy for Halloween, given the style in his previous movies. But we'll see, it might be OK but I'm not really a fan of remakes.
