Just to start things off:

Miss. State has the best perimeter D in the SEC but I didn't expect the game to be nearly that close. The gators looked like shit well into the second half, dispite typically snapping out of it right out of the locker room. A win is a win, and that is a tough arena to play in, but srsly guys... wake up!

Georgia overcoming Kentucky's 17 pt deficit to win by 9, I didn't see that happening after how Georgia let Alabama rally against them on Saturday.

I would og on, but something shiny is catching my eye. Point being, can we get a sticky on this for all the NCAAB fans on here?

All I know is.....

GO GATORS.

I dont think they will win-out, meaning they wont be first for the rest of the year. They should have no problem winning the SEC tournament. The rest of the SEC, though very deep, is a bunch of good, not great, teams.

I seriously doubt that. The only reason we lost to UW was because Aaron Brooks, the PAC-10's leading scorer, wasn't playing. He is like the glue that holds the whole team together. Hes probably angry that he let the team down in the last game and will take it out on you fools.

All I know is.....

GO GATORS.

I dont think they will win-out, meaning they wont be first for the rest of the year. They should have no problem winning the SEC tournament. The rest of the SEC, though very deep, is a bunch of good, not great, teams.

The Gators will fall in Rupp Arena.

And Florida is not a great team. They will not win the UKIT easily. There are no great teams in the NCAA at all this year.

Good teams, but no great teams.

The Big East has collapsed, with more NBA defections than the foreigners ever saw coming.

The SEC is the deepest conference in the league, but only five or six teams will finish above .500 in the league, leaving the rest fighting for NIT bids.

The Pac-10 is being heralded as the best conference, but even UCLA is not a great team.

At this point, there are about 30 different teams that can pose a serious threat for the title, and keep in mind that we are still in the era of the mid-major, as the NBA age-limit continues to send good freshmen to college, allowing schools such as Butler and Wichita State to pounce on the now less-hurrahed A.J. Graves' of the nation.

In my mind, there are four favorites for the championship: Florida, UCLA, North Carolina, and Kansas.

But throw in a revived Big Ten, with teams such as Ohio State, Wisconsin, and an upstart Indiana program, and then visit the Big XII, where Texas A&M and Oklahoma State are vying for the conference crown with Kansas, and you have a very deep NCAA.

The ACC of course has Duke, Clemson, Maryland, and Georgia Tech to backup North Carolina, but then throw in a Virginia Tech team no one saw coming, and now you have problems NC and Duke.

The SEC as always is very deep, what with Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, and an unheralded Vanderbilt squad who has beaten five of their six ranked opponents (four in a row) in the East and LSU and Arkansas in the West, along with an Alabama team whom the pollsters must love, even though they have stunk up the court in conference play.

There are no great teams this year. Even now, as we near the end of January, the Championship picture remains unclear.

We ran out of undefeated teams earlier this season than any previous season with "20" in front of the other two digits.

Parity has come to college basketball.

I for one, love it.

WTF are you talking about? First of all, it was at WSU. Secondly, if you are talking about the foul that sent Leunen to the line with 0.5 seconds left, it was obviously a foul. Just because the crowd doesn't like it doesn't mean its a bad call. The commentators even said it was definitely a foul. Your just mad WSU is having their best year in ages and they still cant beat the Ducks.

But the 20 three's we were getting HACKED on didn't get a foul call?

Low had hit 9 3's that night...I don't think he airballed that last one just for fun.

So every single miss was because an Oregon player hacked the WSU player? It's weird that nobody last night said anything about a foul on the last shot, nobody in the paper today said anything, not even WSU's coach, and nobody on TV today said anything about it. It wasn't his first airball on a three of the night.

This amazing triumph over Washington State by Oregon, combined with UCLA's loss to Stanford, puts the Ducks in 1st place in the PAC-10.

F'ing UF's 29% shooting in the first half against Vandy was absolutely pathetic. The second half looked a little better with Hump's shooting. Did anyone watch the game on tv? I couldn't tell what the technical fouls were for on Stallings and Rice from courtside, just that they had been called.

What are you guy's thoughts on POY.

Personally, I think Kevin Durant deserves it. Yes, the season is not over and yes, I am from Austin, but shit. If you watched UT beat Tech tonight Im fairly sure you could punch your ballot right now. Even if you didnt see the game, 37 points and 23 rebounds, against a Tech team that has beaten 2 Top-10 teams in 2 weeks. He averages a double-double and shoots 85% from the stripe. Leading a team consisting of 5 new starters for the year, 4 freshman and a sophmore. Wow.

Thats what I think anyways.

I went to the UF-Alabama game tonight. Damn... the first 8 minutes or so were royally pissing me off. How do we fall to 22-4 right out the bat. Horford wasn't connecting his passes at first so we blamed the first quick 10 points on that, but when we couldn't convert shit everyong was getting rambunctious. Our guys started carelessly trying to drive to the hole without an open lane to at least get something on the board and momentum going but nothing materialized. Speights did a good job putting up some much needed points and Green was automatic as usual when it came to the freethrow line. If we didn't have his threes at the end and his freethrows I might just have been a sad gator tonight. Oh well... I'm not!! SHAKAKAAAA!!

Time to go watch the UF-Vandy game... will be back later with an opinion.

EDIT:

Well that blew... the number of unforced turnovers we had was absolutely ridiculous, we never covered Byars the way we should have. Byars made several great shots with us all over him, but most of his shots came from the gators scratching their asses waiting for the shot to go up. The past 3 games for the gators it has become noticable that we have been slacking and have become far to comfortable at our position. Combine that with the fact that every single team plays at 150% against highly ranked opponants and it is the perfect recipe for upset and that is precisely what happened today. It is probably a good thing to have this wakeup call right before we head into March.

I don't see them winning out, but the way the season started I'm just happy that they'll be in at any seed.

I saw that Glenn Davis will be out for tonight's game. That should stop the 'Cats losing streak.

And I could see that upset. It's at Michigan St., the Spartans need a big win, and Wisconsin could be looking ahead to that OSU game.

For Kentucky to improve their seeding at any rate, they don't need to just beat LSU, they need to win by at least 18 points. Glenn Davis being out should help that, hopefully, but with Tubby's squads, you never know.

The heat is really piling on Tubby Smith right now in Lexington. I mean, he's had heat before, basically his whole career, but I have never seen it this bad.

Usually, the A.D. Mitch Barnhart says "So-and-So is my coach. Period."

But in an official statement released yesterday, he used words such as "disappointing", "potential", and "reviewing".

If this is the year Tubby Smith finally decides to step down (and I wouldn't blame him; Even when he won the title in '98, he couldn't escape criticism), there will be a major coaching circus going on in Fayette County.

Should Tubby step down, be it voluntarily or forcibly, I shall present my wish list:

Dream coaches: Tom Izzo (he's like Rick Pitino as a coach, but like Tubby as a person; the perfect combination)

Mike Krzyzewski (He's one of the few coaches I believe when he says he focuses on preparing his players for life rather than preparing them for the NBA, and yet he still wins. A lot).

Of course, neither of the above are gonna happen, and so here are UK's most likely choices:

Even though they will first go for Billy Donovan, Billy won't leave Florida (and I hope he doesn't; His work at Florida has made the Florida-Kentucky rivalry one of the best in the nation).

UK's best possibilities are Jay Wright (Villanova), John Beilein (West Virginia), and Rick Barnes (Texas).

Any one of those would be a good fit, and I would welcome them with open arms.

But of course, UK could easily improve if any of its players had any basketball IQ whatsoever.

I've been camping out for the UF-Kentucky basketball game for the past week on and off for the game and I just lost my ticket to it because a UPD officer came up, grabbed my cup out of my hand and smelled alcohol in it. Now I have a stupid fucking open container violation and have lost my ticket to the game. It was my last game(graduating in may) though so i don't have to worry about not having tickets for the rest of my gator career luckily. Still blows I wasted all that time and don't get to go to the last game of the season. I wasn't even drunk and the ticket is like a $13 - $50 yet I lose my fucking ticket to the game because I was standing in line for it at the time.

UK has had policies like that ever since they had that drunk driving incident with some members of the football team back in '99.

Well, at least you won't have to see your team fall. ;)

They started this past week. ;)

Before I say anything about this Florida-Kentucky game, I just want to say that these have been some of the worst officials I have ever seen.

But, even if these refs had pulled their heads out of their asses, it wouldn't have changed much.

Florida still would have won this game by 10 points at least, as UK just has no answer for ugly-ass Noah and the Florida offense.

Florida was the better team today.

Enjoy it Florida. Soak this in, in 104 years of Kentucky basketball, no team has ever beaten Kentucky six times in a row.

Florida is the first.

Congratulations and good luck in the SEC Tournament.

And just to make myself feel better, take your rows of pom-poms and fancy scorer's table and shove them up your asses.

Now I've got to hope that Alabama beats Mississippi State so that Kentucky draws Auburn in the first round, and Ole Miss in the quarterfinals.

Anyone else watch the Duke vs. UNC game?

Thats the kind of shit that makes people hate Duke. They try to say its just because they are good. NO, its becuase they play like a bunch of fucking faggots. They play dirty, and then try to flop all over the court like the pussies at duke have always done. Im really starting to think they teach them to flop, not take a charge like a regular team, but flop like a little bitch. I dont even like UNC, actually I hate them, but I wanted them to kill them so bad. Then you get a dumbass like billy packerd doing the game, and he will not shut the fuck up. All he talks about is how they have "heart", and they wont give up. No, they are down by 15 with 45 seconds to go and they are still fouling, not becuase they wont give up, but becuase they are assholes, and they know that pisses everyone off. Reggie Miller is not going to come out of the crowd and score 15 points for them, they were just being dicks, and thats what they always do. I dont know how hansbrough, even with his down syndrome, was able to hold back from going after that bitch after that cheap elbow. If i was him i would have taken my jersey off and cleaned the blood off my face and threw it towards the duke bench and that asshole mike Ksfjfosnfdofwwki.

I agree with that, McRoberts is a whiny bitch who doesnt know how to play defense on someone that is decently good. Coach K has NO idea on how to recruit if all he can come up with is a team that loses by 14 to UNC.

And Henderson....NO ONE fucking leads with their elbow in the lane unless they are out there to hurt someone. There is no reason to go into the lane with your eyes closed swinging. And honestly there isnt a reason for the one -game suspension, it should be more like 3-5.

And I think I speak for everyone watching the game, Billy Packer should go fucking kill himself.

I am willing to bet anything that if the roles had been reversed and UNC were to commit such a foul, it would've been considered a cheap shot. Duke seems to get a free pass in every concievable situation during a game, and it is an embarassment to the game of basketball that something like this can go by as "unintentional".

All Pac-10 selections came out with Afflalo getting the Pac-10 POTY award over Brooks, who led Afflalo in scoring (18.0 to 17.5), rebounding (3.9 to 2.5), and assists (4.5 to 2.0). I know its not all about stats, but I don't think any team depends on one player more then Oregon does with Brooks. He has made so many clutch shots this year I'm surprised he didn't win.

this is college BASKETBALL, something 3 months ago really dosnt matter. Actually something only a weeks ago dosnt really matter that much. Their is a reason they focus alot on your LAST 10 games, not your first 10 games. It is completly differnt from football. In basketball literally anyone can beat anyone on any given day.

wisconsin lost to Missouri state, and last year lost to a div 2 team at home or something stupid like that
kansas lost to oral roberts, and depaul
georgetown lost to old dominion at home
louisville lost to dayton

and many others

If I'm the coach, I let them dripple around the perimeter and with 4 seconds left I foul Lewis and put him on the line. He makes them both, so what? You throw the ball in, drain a second and go back to line and it worst they have to put up a half court shot to win.

Yeah, this tournament is Ohio State's. Considering that they had to force overtime with a last second three just to beat Xavier, I doubt they are getting to the final four.

I am in a state of complete shock. I know I have joked about Tubby leaving before, but I didn't think he would actually do it. I can't say I blame him either. Minnesota is going to pay him the same money for less pressure.

Early sources indicate that UK will go after Tom Crean.

We Ohio State fans are used to crap like that. I wish I had a nickel for every time I heard someone call the Buckeyes the "Luckeyes" week after week as they marched on to win the 2002 national championship in football. So keep hating, people; maybe it's what gives us our "luck." :D

EH, a lot of people think he will run scared due to a loss in depth; however, I can't be so certain. I think he likes the fact that he is building his own dynasty way to much. He better do a hell of a good job recruiting this year otherwise our razor thin bench is going to become even thinner. Maurees, hodge, and werner can't pull the whole team. Walter Hodge is already starting to slip nicely into the soon to be empty shoes but he has room for improvement. Dan Werner is huge so long as he can improve his defense and gain some confidence from the arc. Maureese Speights is going to be outstanding next year and whenever he is in right now he puts up one of the highest point to minute ratios on our team, he just doesn't get much playing time. I am convinced he doesn't because Billy wants to play Dan more instead because Dan has more that needs to be improved. Powell and Mitchell have improvements that need to be made if Florida wants to have any chance at remaining in the top 10.

Well, according to WLKY and my newspaper, preliminary reports from the University of Kentucky says they have been working with Billy Donovan's agent in Lexington on a seven-year, $28 million deal (plus a loyalty bonus), to be completed when Florida either wins the tournament or falters.

Personally, I think Billy would be insane to leave Florida (not that I hope he doesn't ;)).

yeah, I think he wants to stay at Florida and he is leveraging Kentucky's position to help him renegotiate his contract with Florida that ends in 2 years for a ridiculous sum. Florida's got the dough, I say we line his pockets!
