These are the starters for each conference
Eastern Conference:
C- Shaquille O'Neal
PF- Chris Bosh
SF- LeBron James
SG- Gilbert Arenas
PG- Dwyane Wade
Western Conference:
C- Yao Ming (injured will be replaced)
PF- Tim Duncan
SF- Kevin Garnett
SG- Tracy Mcgrady
PG- Kobe Bryant
---------------------------------------------------
Thoughts? For me I think that D.Howard should be in instead of Shaq, but Shaq should still be in but as a reserve. I think Yao would either be replaced by Amare, Dirk or possibly Josh Howard, and wheres NASH!!!!!!
Also here are the cheerleaders going to the all-star game

I DONT AGREE WITH SHAQ.
He has played 8 games....he IS NOT an all-star this year. Dwight Howard is a suitbale replacement.

There will be that switch for yao, but you gotta realize, its a popularity contest. Gilbert last year got put on only because jermain oniel (sp) was hurt, now thankfully he is starting. Shaq shouldnt be in there for his performance this year, but i would compare it to the whole michael vick thing in the nfl. People just want him in to watch him and because of the name.

Yeah shaq got on because of the name. Yao will be replaced by Amare most likely... maybe dirk, MAYBE.
Nash sucks won't be there.

Shaq should play for the comedy value. Also quite surprised Vince Carter isn't starting.

He does, he's overrated. He has no defense, unlike the other PGs selected. Any other PG put into his offensive position would be the same caliber player. (Arenas, Billups, ect.)

Obviously Shaq should not be an all star when he's barely played. Other than that the East all looks deserving. In the West I think it should be:
Nash
Iverson
Carmelo
Dirk
KG
Theres no way Nash and Dirk shouldn't be starting. But that's what happens when fan voting is involved.

words can't describe how stupid this sounds^

Howard deffinitely deserves it over Shaq. The only reason Nash was 2 time MVP is because he is one of only a couple white players that are somewhat All-Star caliber. The NBA is still trying to market to middle class America, inwhich the majority of people are white. Same thing with Jerk Nowitski. Neither player has any knowledge of defense and their teams win because of overall team talent instead of great individual efforts on their behalf.

ono the MVP isn't the fastest player with the highest vertical jump... the NBA must be fixed
Nash makes everyone around him better and its because of him the Suns play the way they do. The Suns went from a 29-53 team to 62-20 after getting Nash. 54-28 without Amare. Losing Quentin Richardson and Joe Johnson didnt affect them at all. Boris Diaw is thriving with Nash and he couldnt even get playing time in Atlanta. I can't find any stats on what the Suns record is in games Nash sits out... but I'm sure it's not good at all.

^^and what about Nash's lack of D? MVPs are one dimensional?

I totally agree with the statements that Shaq SHOULD NOT be starting over Dwight Howard. The big fucker has, up to this point in the season, has played in less than 10 games. Dwight has been a monster all season, and Shaq gets chosen over him? He's getting snubbed. That's what happens when people who have no knowledge of the game of basketball choose fan favorites instead of those who actually deserve it.
In the West, the only change I would make to the starting lineup is switching Tim Duncan for Dirk. Tim is having another TD year, but Dirk has been nothing short of amazing. He basically has unlimited range on offense (he can score anywhere) and he has drastically improved in his defensive play and rebounding.
Yeah shaq got on because of the name. Yao will be replaced by Amare most likely... maybe dirk, MAYBE.

Like I said in another post.... You have no basketball knowledge. All you do is rant about the Pistons (I like them too, but damn). So you are saying that Steve Nash sucks???? He (with the exception of Jason Kidd) may be the best passer to come into the league since Magic or Stockton. I can agree that last year, he DID NOT deserve MVP honors over Kobe, but he, by no means, sucks.

Had to bump this for how fucking wrong he is.
I won't discuss what he said wrong as many of you already have, but I must mention the MVP race. Nash has progressively gotten better over the last few years, and the Suns are an outstanding team but Dirk should win MVP this season for these reasons:
1) He makes his teammates better. The league, and myself, clearly think Nash has a much better supporting cast. The Suns have three all-stars, all of whom were picked by the coaches as reserves, a potential sixth man of the year winner Leandro Barbosa, a certain Boris Diaw, and the best 5 player combo in the league. Dallas only has one all-star(although Howard is clearly an all-star), and a supporting cast that makes Dirk's case for MVP much easier than Nash's.
2) Dirk's D has improved over the years, although some will still call him irk..assholes
3) He is second in efficiency(trailing only Kevin Garnett), while leading his team to the best record in the NBA so far.
4) Other than the finals last year, Dirk has proven he is clutch when it matters.
5) He is a great leader.
Edit: I'd also like to point out that Phoenix will NEVER, and you can quote me on this, never win the NBA finals with their style of play. Trying to outscore your opponent night in and night out just doesn't work when you play a team with good d and a solid offense. Did D'antoni not learn anything from the Dallas of old?

Not too mention that Dirk is apparently the only all star caliber player on his team and they happen to be the number 1 team in the league.

OMFG...
WHEN I SAID "He sucks" - I mean he doesn't have defense and therefore should not start. End of story.
If you want my personal opinion I think he is a great PG... Definately one of the best offensive. But to be on an all-star team you can't just have offense even if it is EXTREMELY GOOD.
