Do you hate or love players from your team who helped in your team's success and then got traded? i was talking to a friend and she said "if he's not in my team i don't care for him anymore" which i can see why but i think it depends on the way they went out, i still love many ex-Lakers, i'm not going to root for them at all but i like them.

If they helped my team to success, and he was a great guy, and didn't get in any trouble or whatnot, or failed to ever piss me off, I would wish him luck.
Good luck Ben Wallace.

Well in the NBA most people follow players, instead of teams. The only reason most people will like a team is because they follow a player on the team. I do the same. I've liked Michael Redd since I watched him play in highschool, and then went to ohio state, and then I followed him to the Bucks, and now I follow the bucks because of that.
The NFL is differnt though, I follow a team, not a player. If a player that was on my team and got traded, i dont hate them. I usually like to see them do good, but only if they arnt playing my team.

well, i guess it would also depend on who the player was, and the team he went to. going to a rival for some extra money is just lame. say if brett favre goes to the falcons (not happening, just an example)...i'd still love brett.

Johnny Damon - hate! Adam Vinatieri meh even though he did the same thing as Damon pretty much. It's tough to hate him. But I'm rooting against him today.

There is a difference between what is being asked and those two. They werent traded, they left in free agency. You shouldnt hate a player that is traded simply because he's on another team if you liked him on your team. Its not his fault. Free agency is another story.
You shouldnt hate either one of them anyway, root against them yeah, but hating them is stupid. They both were major parts of your championship teams, perhaps you wouldnt have won them without them, and they both left to main rivals for similar reasons, they were being jerked around by the Boston front offices.
