View Full Version : Worst lyrical misinterpretations

An extremely common one is in Eiffel 65- Blue.
Actual lyrics- I'm Blue, da ba dee, da ba die.
Wrong- anything else (if I were green, I would die, I'm in need of a guy, etc.)

Also, my friend thought that in Bohemian Rhapsody, "thunderbolts and lightning," was "thunder both not lightning." :err:

Share.

"Dirty deeds done dirt cheap"

It somehow became "Dirty chief and the dungeon cheese." I saw it on some site devoted to stupid people misunderstanding the lyrics.

A cool misinterpretation of Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap is "Dirty Dee and the Thunder Chief." That would be a sweet name for a rock duo. The bassist could dress up like an indian and the guitarist could dress up like a biker/random badass.
I call dibs on this idea. Nobody steal this band from me.

Incubus - Are You In?

It's so much easier, when seafoam green is in fashion.

I could never understand it, i don't know anyone who could tell what he was saying without looking it up or having it told to them.

I use to think this part of Alive by Pearl Jam

"..While you were sittin,
Home Alone at age thirteen,
Your real daddy was dyin, sorry you didn't see him
but I'm gald we talked.."

sounded like

"While you were sittin
Home alone in ascertain
You didn't know he was dyin
but I'm playin guitar"

Weird.

Suffocation - Depths of Depravity, the line "Now the time has come for you to see your death." sounds suspiciously like "Now the time has come for you to see your dad." I knew it wasn't instantly, but now whenever I hear that part I can't help but think of it that way. :D

"This world is spinning inside me
The whole world keeps spinning inside me"

Dream Theater - "Pull Me Under"

I always hear

"This world is spinning in sodomy
The whole world keeps spinning in sodomy"

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds:

Should be:

"The girl with kaleidoscope eyes."

Could be heard as:

"The girl with colitis goes by."

Or from Ticket to Ride:

Correct: "She's got a ticket to ride."

Incorrect: "She's got a tick in her eye." or "She's got a chicken to ride."

I actually heard someone singing along to "Sad But True" but they kept saying "State Patrol." I also heard someone sing along to Pearl Jam's "Better Man" saying "can't find the pyramid."

Someone I know once wrote down "Bohemian Rhapsody" as "Yo Himidy Rap CD (Mama Mia Song)", and they were serious.

I died inside a little that day.
