What do think? Roadrunner is getting some of the popular bands out there today. Could this skyrocket Dream Theaters popularity or doom them?

As long as DT sticks to what they do best i dont think the label will make any difference.

Does Roadrunner have Opeth?

Anyway, DT aren't going to return to the Kevin Moore I&W/Awake/ACOS magic anytime soon so I'm sure it won't make a difference.

Shame Dream Theater are the disgusting mutant-child of classic rock and greed, greed, greed. Intellectual elitism and wankoff guitar solos, there\'s no margin for error, they\'re so obsessed with perfection they don\'t realise the \'errors\' are the character.

Greed?

You're not making yourself look intelligent. Elaborate or GTFO.

Can you actually give a reason to why they suck?

Boring music.
Technical Ability before Songwriting and Artistic Ability.
Songs lack drive or a focus.
Singer is horrible.

I think their music sounds artistic as well as very technical
It's progressive metal, it's not supossed to focus on one thing. As for drive it doesn't have to be all heavy and powerfull to be good.
I like james labire's voice, have you heard his voice on Ayreon? Its 10x better then when he sings for Dream Theater.

But of course you have your own opinion, It's not like your going to change anyones minds by slamming every band that you don't like.

And the mvsic you listen to has good songwriting placed before technical ability?

You are bitter and blind.

Yes, it does.

Plus, you have Opeth in your sig, so your musical taste is void.

I like a lot of music....what kind of stuff do you want?

I'd tell you Porcupine Tree to start off (Similar to your tastes), but I'm pretty sure you've heard of them before.

In Absentia - they've had a few different phases, but that's probably the best album to start off with.

All you do is troll the Music section until you get attention. It's a strange, pointless existance you have Metallic. :sleeping2

Every 4th or 5th post of his is: "Opeth sucks ... listen to Nphilikupilliztrisby, Trewrclailmoprt or Zromnillliprostiw instead."

Dude, Trewrclailmoprt is fucking sick. Probably heaviest band ever.

But how many of those bands are currently signed to them now?
I think PT is the only one currently on the label. They used to be respectable, but their highlight CD (Roadrunner United) showed just how far downhill they've gone.

I like a lot of bands, it just varies on my mood. As of late, I've been listening to a lot of Agalloch, Uaral, Begrime Exemious, Sear Bliss, Arghoslent, Suffocation, Mekong Delta, Demolition Hammer, and Carnivore.

Post some of the stuff that you like, and I'll try to give you some recommendations that you would like. For starters, get Agalloch's "The Mantle"
I swear, everyone needs to appreciate that album.

Sear Bliss, Arghoslent, Mekong Delta
Each of those are easily in my top five for favorite black metal, death metal, and thrash metal, respectively. I have you to thank for getting me into Sear Bliss and Mekong Delta. Great recommendations.

Sear Bliss is a freaken sweet band - I never knew you liked them. Being a thrash fan, I'd expect you to like Demolition Hammer. :p

After reading that, I suddenly had a funny vision of DT making 3 chord pop punk songs.
