What has sports turned into?

I remember when Hockey (umong other sports) was played by the players, not the fucking referees.

It's absolutely disgusting when hockey games are based on ridiculous penalites. Now don't get me wrong, but when someone trips someone or slashes to the point where it's an easy call, then it's a no brainer.

BUT!

When there are 10, I say TEN penalites called on ONE team, about 8 of them slight "touches" or mis-calls(A players stick got CAUGHT in the boards, and was called for holding when another player tried to go through him), then it's just utterly stupid.

The leafs nashville game tonight was about 50% penality killing, instead of 5 on 5 which is what hockey is suppose to be about. Now, all-together, about 18 penalites were called. 18 X 2= 36.

That's 36minutes out of a 60minute game. I don't care what you say, but when it comes down to it, I'de rather see someone get away with putting their stick on a players jersey for less than a second, than 2 minutes of nonsense penalty killing bullshit.

It's FUCKING RIDICULOUS. SPORTS NOW ARE JUST PENALITES PENALITES PENALITES. All about the fucking refs. If you TOUCH someone, PENALTY, if you get in their way, PENALTY! My god, I tried watching basketball, but the amount of fouls within a 2minute period, was UNBELIEVABLE.

I'm getting sick of it, and something should definately be done, excuse my rant, but I've had enough of these fucking refs calling just about anything so a team has a chance to score.

FUCK!

Well penality killing is the most exciting part of a hockey game, i dont see why you would hate it, that would be a good game to me.

Im guessing your a leafs fan though, so go cry in a bathroom or something.

yep ,i never liked how american sports are over officiated.
In NFL you get penalties in practically every possession for minor stuff .The foul calls in NBA make it hard to watch as well.

If you could read, which I don't think you can faggot, you'd see that about 18penalites were called that game. 10 to the leafs....

So the penalites were about even, but that's beyond the point rainbow, it's the fact STUPID penalties are called for just about anything right now.

And they do it so teams can score. Teams aren't even based anymore on skill, it's being able to be up 1 guy and scoring. What kinda shit is that? I mean if you make a mistake, and your on the penalty kill, I understand, but when refs look for reasons to make a call, just so someone scores, it's rubbish.

Fucking hate it.

The NHL is still going through a transitional period where they want the game to open up and are calling a lot of penalties. Sometimes they do it way too much and it ceases to be actual hockey. It's what happens when you try to cater a sport to people who don't like it; you alienate the fan base that already exists and nobody watches.

How does calling more penalties "open up" the game? Wouldn't it restrict the freedom of the game?

Basically they are calling everything that is a form of the actual penalty, not just the things that actually slow down or hinder the game.

they have created teams in markets that arent hockey heartlands.
Teams like quebec and winnipeg have closed down .And opened up new teams in places like nashville and carolina .I spoke to a hockey fan who hates every team from the sunbelt .

Yeah... NFL is good, I think. It's not too harsh.

NBA though. Jesus. You touch someone OMFG CALL THE FOUL! That is utterly stupid. You don't need so many god damn rules and penalties. Lots of things they dont' need. I wonder how many fouls are called in an ONE NBA game.
