Any one is a good pick.

My personal first was their latest: 10,000 Days and I love it, from then on I branched out and got the rest of their albums.

Depends on what sound your interested in. Their earlier sound was a lot more raw and rock-esque (see albums: Undertow, Opiate).

After that it gets a bit more progressive with Aenima but still pretty raw.

Then Lateralus is probably their most progressive album and probably ties with 10,000 Days on that note.

Tell me what songs you like and I can point you in a clearer direction. But all in all, any album you get from Tool is platinum.

Ænima used to be my favourite, but now Lateralus is. I agree that Lateralus is the more progressive one.

Get a King Crimson album instead. I mean, if you're into super pretentious prog-rock, go with KC.

I agree with what has been said, its probably best to start with Aenima or Lateralus. Just like mount happy, 10,000 days was the first I got from them, but before that I already downloaded a bunch of their songs. I got both Lateralus and Aenima at the same time and those are really good.

My personal favorite is Ænima. It's got a lot of great tracks. 10,000 Days is pretty good, there are a lot of stand out tracks, but some songs are just stupid, (Intension, Lipan Conjuring, Lost Keys) Lateralus is probably the deepest album, and I know people are gonna call me crazy but it's my least favorite.

That seems to be a trend amongst many fans, i never understood why. I love Lateralus, "Disposition" is amongst my favourite Tool songs.

Don't get me wrong, it's still an amazing album. Jesus now that I think of it, it might be better than 10,000 days.

I could never get into Tool...

Listen to Parabola, Schism, and Prison Sex. In that exact order, and your interest for them will grow immensely. Tool is unique. Make sure you feel their lyrics, and riffs.

None. aweful band

What are you talking about? Tool is the most progressive, creative band of all time. Don't you see the beauty and technicality in their music?

Tool is the best band of all time. Everyone should buy all of their albums.
