Shit, I gots a dumb PS3 question as well.
I have 60GB just chillin, I have no desire for pics or music on there. Is it possible to rip Blu-ray movies or.....*gasp*.. games? I know it wouldnt be a licensed product since you could rent and never buy, but still.

I think it's possible to rip movies from Blu-Ray, but you won't be able to do it from the PS3. I'm not sure if you'd be able to put it on the PS3 HDD, but why would you want to? You won't be able to put a whole lot of movies or games from a 25GB disc onto a 60GB HDD.
And the old rumor about not being able to play rented games comes from a rumor that Sony makes you register every game you play on the PS3, making it impossible to play used games, or even rented games. It's not surprising, considering the news came about the time that Microsoft, Intel, Toshiba, and even Sony were announcing other forms of DRM to prevent playing illegal copies of other media. Sony is known pretty well for their copyright protection with their MP3 players and Blu-Ray, so it's no surprise that some people would believe the rumor.

can it play used games, so ur asking if you play it once you cant play it again. Now this is a serious question, do you have some form of mental retardation?

Yeah it can, and I'd predict that within a year there will be a hacked firmware out on PS3 that lets you do a shitload of stuff... I mean -- look at it, it's resemblance to PSP's OS is more than uncanny. If enough cool homebrew and hacks come out for PS3, I just might get one.

You can. If you have Fedora Linux you can rip the blu-ray disc to the 60GB HD or an external HD. Look it up.

It's called registering your game to the console. Do you have some form of mental retardation?
