Which do you guys think is better? I have a PSP, and im wondering if I should buy a DS. I like shooter games, but Mario is a very fun and classic game that I want. Its very tempting. And there only 130 bucks and they look pretty sick, so what do you think?

I like the DS better. I can't justify dropping $200 for a portable when I can pretty much play the same games on my PS2. The DS has some great games and I really want to play the new Kirby game.

i don't care about either, but the ds is crushing the psp in sales, so it gets my vote.

Ds, I'm about to get a http://www.realhotstuff.com/r4ds-c-56.html and a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134049 and have access to homebrew goodness and roms for every DS game. Oh boy.
DS is way better than PSP, a lot more enjoyable games without the annoying load times. Plus what were they thinking with just one analog stick?

depends on WHAT KIND of psp you're talking about. A regular psp and a hacked psp are 2 different things. With a regular psp all you can do is play its shitty games and use the crappy internet browser. With a hacked one you can:
- play doom, wolfenstein, and quake (pc versions of each)
- play snes games
- play genesis games
- play nes, arcade, and master system games
- play Playstation 1 and N64 games
- play gameboy advance games
Honestly, there's nothing like having hundreds upon hundreds of games you didn't pay for, in your pocket. Oh yeah, it plays movies and music too ;)

I prefer PSP for Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. I can't wait for Final Fantasy Crisis Core.
I do want to try FFIII for DS though.
PSP is getting more and more games worth playing so now is a good time to pick one up I'd say.

DS, by far. No Questions asked.
Plus FFXII: Revenant Wing looks fucking awesome, though alot of the Trilers are CG Movies which pisses me off.

Slot-1 or GBA Cart Mods? I have a GBA Cart and want to kno how good Slot-1's are, I'm currently looking into an R4.

New Final Fantasy Tactics game coming for PSP as well! Apparantly it takes place in a new part of Ivalice, though I can't recall the details..
I would definitely get a PSP. I enjoy going back and playing old classics on their respective emulators.
Portable Ops is awesome, Crisis Core is going to be terrific, it's going to get a port of FF1 and 2 which is always nice, but you could just play that on an NES/PS/GBA emulator (they've been ported like crazy). Capcom Puzzle World is ADDICTING AS HELL!
Then there's Loco Roco, Vice City Stories, Valkyrie Profile, all great games that I've played first-hand thanks to a friend of mine =).
On an arbitrary note, I still can't get over that a handheld could have such nice quality graphics. Always such a trip to turn that puppy on.
DS lite is good fun, the FFIII port is very well done, Advanced Wars ftw! A few of the classic remakes like Bubble Bobble and Bomberman are always fun. Though my experience with DS is limited, unfortunately~
Both systems have entertaining games, I don't see any flaws or drawbacks with either of them. Though the emulation capability on the PSP really sold me. Well that and Portable Ops and GTA ^.^

But like I've said before, if that's what you want, you should save yourself some money and buy a GP2X

I had both at about the same time, I played both, I used both to the best of their abilities... 6 months down the line, I traded in my PSP and got 4 more games for my DS.
DS is just better for me.

I have a DS and I'm probably gonna trade it in later this year. Most of the top rated games are kiddie, boring, and easy to beat and get boring quickly. The PSP has much better 3rd party support, and much more variety in games.

I have a psp too, but I vote DS the game are fun and you can mod it. It can also hold a lot of games with mods. Atleast it is that way until the psp firmware is cracked so you can actually mod it.

I'd rather get a DS instead of a PSP, just seems like it's more fun. Cheaper too.

What type of games do you like?
Is there that one specific game you want really bad on one specific system?
Is there a game you want coming out in the future for one specific system?
Does price matter to you?
Ask yourself these questions first then decide.

I might just go with a DS myself (im currently borrowing one). I read someones post about moding on the DS? Zomg how, i need precise how-tos here. Or modding on the PSP. I remember something like you cant play new games if you downgrade the firmware on the PSP.

Well i have both but my PSP broke... I would go buy the DS Lite if anyhting... games are cheap too like 25$ some of them so DS is a good deal... lol I play neither of them now that I have the Wii

Why I prefer the PSP:
Nintendo is greedy and overcharges for ports.
The PSP has a sexier screen.
PSP has some great exclusives as mentioned previously in this thread.
The PSP has some great Capcom exclusives.

I sold my DS to get a PSP. Big fucking mistake. The games and controls are terrible, and while it would be good as an MP3 player, you can't store shit on it. And if you do spend shit-loads of money for the 2 gig card and a PSP, you could get an 80 gig iPod video instead. And if you haven't figured out already, 80>2.
PSP oh yeah :boink: in can play music, watch videos, internet and awsome graphics and its only 150 bucks more
or you could save your $150 and buy a GP2X

They go hand in hand.
Me and my gf both have DS, but I recently purchased a PSP and I'm surprised how good it is.
DS provides a cheaper solution to your handheld gaming, but there are some things that I found better on the PSP like shooters, racing games, fighting games, and a lot of games look undeniably better on it. And imo the stylus is becoming a gimmick that majority of the games puts a small use to.
I bought Burnout for the DS awhile back and it sucked ass! And goes to show you what type of games the DS can never handle. If anyone's played Burnout you'll know what I mean.
Now people will talk about movies and music on the PSP but i don't use it. I have an Ipod and a modded Gameboy Micro. There are alot of demos worth downloading and killing time for. The load times don't bother me, I mean Tekken 5:DR felt like there was no loading times.
DS games:
Nintendogs
New Mario Bros
Elite Beat Agents
Castlevania PoR
Burnout
Trauma Center
Sprung
Mario Kart
PSP:
Tekken 5:DR
Loco Roco
Me & My Katamari
Work Time Fun
Capcom Classics
DEMOS
Those are the only games I've owned for each and I still feel they go hand in hand. I hate the DS Lite's control feel, but the regular DS feels so perfect. The PSP feels good but I hate the lack of analogs.

With a custom firmware on teh PSP from DAX, you can have:
-The latest Firmware and features that come with the official sony firmware
-Load backed-up games from the memory stick without any additional software or homebrew
-play homebrew games and applications that are for the lower firmwares (1.50+)
-play games at the locked cpu speed in official firmwares (the PSP's CPU can run at 333mhz and sony caps this at 222mhz on official FW's) This is great for playing laggy games like vice city stories
-customize almost every aspect of the firmware
-play Playstation 1 games at full speed
-play thousands of classic emulated games at full speed (NES, SNES, SEGA, Gameboy/GBA, and a bunch of arcade games that have been ported to the PSP)
-N64 is in the works and is on the verge of being full speed with sound
Currently, all games run at 222mhz that have been released for the PSP, and theres a rumor that sony will unlock the the 333mhz clock speed, and this will mean games with far better graphics then before, possibly on par or better than ps2.

So what's the biggest Memory Stick Pro Duo currently available, and how much do they cost?

The GP2X will do all that minus PS1 emulation. N64 is already cracked though.

When the PSP was released it sucked bad due to lack of software, DS on the other hand had all the good software.
Now however ...
The PSP rapes the DS, from what it can do, to how it looks to how it plays.

I have both and PSP is graphically better but the DS is easier to just pick up and play gameplay wise.
Basically the PSP is a tiny ps2. And how many times do you play PS2 for just 10mins?
Im sure the PSP is even better though with Homebrew, just that i dont feel comfortable doing it if i brick the thing as mine V2.80.
I know there are V3+ downgraders but im gonna wait it out a bit before i have a play.

the PSP is a much more powerful, cooler, and versitile system.
It just needs to come out with more games that are good. It doesn't have the library that the DS has. =\

Why buy the DS when you could just buy a Gameboy for 1/100 the price ?!?!
