My computer will run it, but not too well. I'm pretty excited about it because I only got to play it for about 15 minutes on the pc before it became unplayable. Plus, it sounds like the PS3 version may end up getting all the downloadable content as well.......at some point.

it took an entire year of extra development for the same exact game? i'll pass, had it on the 360 for a year now.

But it's not the same exact game.

We know, the 360 has had 1 Years worth of Expansions and we're getting Updated Graphics Coding. ZING!
I'm joking...

yes it is, but with less content, it doesn't include mezrunes razor and thieve's den.
360 has all of that already and it's been a year, and we get a graphics update. it's the same exact game.

Actually, the PS3 is the better version in my opinion. The patch for the 360 version only fixes the near and far texture blending problem, nothing else. Thanks to the development time, the PS3 version will still have a better draw distance, load faster and run smoother, making it technically superior. But to each their own. But I digress, that's neither here nor there, I don't want to get into a system war squabble. I'm just happy I finally get a chance to enjoy this game. For those who have played it, I do have a question. How big is the world you play in? For instance, how long would it take you to walk from one end of the world map to the other? I just want to get an idea of how large this game really is.

Well it hard to say how long it would take, cause its not a perffect circle or square (tamriel).
But the longest distance would take you a good 15 - 20 minutes (without runing).
Anyway its BIG
bigger then San Andreas anyway.

1) It's your Opinion. Don't use it as a fact.
2) The Patch is actually a Code String aswell. It optimises Performance aswell as Graphics. We'll have even faster load times/better draw distance/ better textures/etc.
3) It's huge. Running from the Black Marsh Swamps all the way to Anvil will take literally 1.5 Hours +.

wow xeoset your really taking this one to heart ...
Just get over it, Oblivion, using the Playstation 3's hardware, has been proven to run faster, better and include more content.
Sure you can say it came out a year later, but last time i check they only tweaked the way the game is run on the hardware, not 'adding new content'.

Fast travel and levelscaling ruined the atmosphere of the game.

No, I just proved his statements false and told him not to use his opinions as facts.
And your statement is completely false.
1) The same String Code is getting added with a Performance Patch with the 360, so the whole year the PS3 got, they're adding the same upgrade to the 360 Version.
2) The PS3 Version DOES NOT include any extra Content, so don't make up crap off the top of your head. The PS3 IS getting the extra content but not for a while because of the 'Memory Mix-up' or whatever it was.

I'll have to admit, Oblivion will probably run much better on the PS3. Just like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

The Playstation 3's Hardware is completely differnet to the Xbox 360 so they're hardly running on the same coding. They've mearly optimised the 360's coding so it runs a bit faster.
2) The PS3 Version DOES NOT include any extra Content, so don't make up crap off the top of your head. The PS3 IS getting the extra content but not for a while because of the 'Memory Mix-up' or whatever it was.
Well thats true to an extent ... since most the 'extra' content is already coming with the game. When the new expansions come out you can download them just like you can download them for the xbox 360.
Pfft, we should expect this from you constantly attacking the Playstation 3, it's funny how the threads about the Xbox 360 and all its positive points don't turn into shit fests like this. But hey I just guess some people are too insecure.

The fact that you think Bethesda are actually adding the likes of Thieves Den/Shivering Isles/Wizard Tower/etc into the actual PS3 Version of Oblivion is enough justice to prove that any statement you make is laughable.
Not everything is for free . Now excuse me while I go do my Euromillions.

"SPOnG: Why do you think the blogosphere seems to be so down on Sony? With a lot of gaming websites seemingly taking every opportunity to knock Sony for the slightest reason right now…
Pete Hines: I don't think it's necessarily a Sony thing. I think when you see a little bit of smoke, then you tend to get a lot of people running in that direction shouting fire! I mean, Sony clearly had some bumps in the road getting the console out. And certainly, you have a certain group of fans - namely the Xbox fans - who are going to take any opportunity to knock the other guys at Sony and say "our console's better"…But at the end of the day, it's the internet. You have to take most of it with a very large pinch of salt… anything you read or hear on the internet"

They dont want to add some of the expansions with the game because it would not work with the pace of the game. It wouldnt make sense to get the wizard's tower from the beginning, so they arent including it at first...
Plus, the PS3 IS getting an exclusive questline.
So in the end, since he PS3 version is coming out a year later, it is going to be an improvment. Accept it.

I loved the PS1 and PS2. But after I found out how fucking longs its taking for them to do, well, ANYTHING... I just said fuck it and picked up the 360. I don't regret it and I doubt I will. Sony didn't do too well with the PS3, no thanks to them providing a ton of faulty laptop batteries.
Gears of War, Lost Planet, and Fight Night Round 3 are all I need on a console. All the other games I have are FPS on my comp.

What the fuck does it matter which is better? If you have a PS3 - buy it for PS3, damn it. If you have a 360, stop being a fucktard and just keep your damn 360 copy. If you don't own either console, then buy the one that has the games you think you'd enjoy the most. If you just don't care about which console to get, then chances are you probably have enough money to buy a couple. No sense in bickering over a fucking interweb forum about Which is better when in the end - IT'S ALL BASED ON FUCKING OPINION.
Fucking christ. Stop being retarded.

The PS3 is made of children and kittens.
The PS3 is really a device used by the Government to track what you're doing.
The PS3 has only one Exclusive and Sony themselves have said that and that's how it'll always be.
The PS3's Graphics card is comparable to a Nvidia GeForce 5700 LE.
The PS3's Processor is only a Pentium II.
It's fun when you make stuff up isn't it? I think I'll copy you some more.

Oblivion for the Playstation 3 no extras?
Open up the PS3 edition of Oblivion and you've already saved yourself some coin. That's because the do-gooder quest add-on, Knights of the Nine, is pre-loaded into the PlayStation version. In fact, one of the reasons behind the add-on being created was to give PS3 owners a little extra treat for having had to wait so long for a trip into Cyrodiil. That's how much Bethesda love you.
well done.

Jesus didnt you read the dam article?
But ok if you want a link http://uk.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/theelderscrollsivoblivion/news.html?sid=6165505
To clear up any confusion, the PS3's Oblivion is the original game that hit the other platforms last March, plus performance improvements and bug fixes that were made to those versions after release. The game will also contain Knights of the Nine, last fall's fairly sizeable content update that added an entire new faction to the game. Bethesda hasn't determined if smaller content updates such as the Orrery and Mehrunes' Razor will hit the PS3 version at a later time--but then, Oblivion was already an enormously humongous game to start with, so newcomers to Cyrodiil will have plenty of gameplay to chew on regardless. Controlwise, Oblivion is essentially unchanged from the Xbox game. In fact, coming straight from a hands-on session with the 360 version of Shivering Isles, we were able to start playing Oblivion on the PS3 with nary a tutorial or explanation of the controls.

Apparantly they will! I'm glad PS3 owners will get to experience KOTN without paying extra, since it's a damn cool expansion.
...Although I had to wait hours(in game time) for the other fucking knights...assholes.

"SPOnG: The PS3 version contains the Knights of the Nine content [which came as an add-on for 360 and PC]...what about other downloadable content? 'The Orrery' and other add-ons?
Pete Hines: Well, we are now just about getting around to looking at the downloadable content for the PS3 version - so we are evaluating what works, how well it works and so on - so that we can figure out which ones we can release… whether it's all of them or just some of them… and then we'll figure out when to release them."
"Pete Hines: Yeah, quite a few of the optimizations done for this version are specific to the way the PlayStation 3 is designed, in the way it processes information… so those optimizations wouldn't be applicable to the other versions."
