So to keep it from threatening you, you have to keep it from getting bigger and stronger.

And the only thing you can do is to kill it or shield the victims so they won't be eaten but the monster shows up where you don't expect it and it is very clever and elusive and determined and can appear as benign until it is ready to strike you or the helpless victim.
