So I just read in the latest GameInformer that microsoft will be dropping the price for the 360 by 100 bucks. Thats fucking awesome. The price drop will be before christmas of this year.

Discuss.

I really doubt it's going to happen. Unless Microsoft is one of those make-believe companies that decides their making enough profit from the software to drop the price of the hardware significantly enough to surpass the cheaper made Wii in price. I don't even see the Xbox360 being less than $200 before the end of its life cycle unless they make a mini version, like with the PS2, and seriously cut down on the cost of materials.

Well aren't 360s getting much cheaper to make than before and Microsoft is now making money selling them? The PS3 is now in Europe so Microsoft might as well try to grab as many customers as they can before all the heavyweight titles on the PS3 comes out to showcase what that shiny metal box is made of.

When Halo 3 comes out I will buy a 360, the updated version. Grand Tourismo HD is looking very delicious too...but PS3 has to be under $400 for me to buy one.

There was some Microsoft PR guy spouting about a Price Drop, I'll look for the Article.

Still, it's a wise move. Drop the Premium to the current Core price and stop production of the Core Model to make way for the Zephyr, which will almost defianatly take the old Premium price tag. They're already profiting over $100+ on each Console by estimates, which is most likely not far off because back in September they were making $70+ on each Console, so it seems likely.

I have never seen a console for less than $200 EVER! you americans get it easy we pay extra rrp then ontop of that we have 17.5% tax

same with the ps3 in america you were moaning about the $500 price tag over here it's $850

I think they're still losing revenue for each 360 sold. I doubt they'd lower the price by $100. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Read my Post ^

Microsoft have been making quite a large sum on he 360 already, we know back in Q3 they were making $70+ Profits on each sold and were already clearing nearly all the Hardware Debt from the first 360's and the Xbox Generation.
