BRAD DELP - R.I.P:
Very very distressing and sad news to pass on today - news just coming in is reporting that legendary Boston singer Brad Delp has been found dead at his home.
Here is the first report from Associated Press newsagency -
ATKINSON, N.H. -- Brad Delp, the lead singer for Boston, a huge rock sensation in the 1970s, was found dead Friday in his home, police said. He was 55.
Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Police Lt. William Baldwin said in a statement the death was "untimely" and that there was no indication of foul play. Delp apparently was alone at the time of his death, Baldwin said.
The cause of his death remained under investigation by the Atkinson police and the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's office. Police said an incident report would not be available until Monday. Delp fronted the rock band, who rose to fame in the late 1970s and had several hits, including "More than A Feeling." The group sold millions of records.
The tributes for Brad Delp are pouring in as you would expect from such a well liked and respected singer and human being. The Noticeboard is dominated by comments from fans, including Jeff Scott Soto and Pekka Asino. Here is just a few more:
Boston.org (Tom Scholtz) - Brad Delp - June 12, 1951 to March 9, 2007....The nicest, kindest, most caring, down to earth rock star the world has ever known....May you rest in Peace.
BandBoston.com - We've just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll.
Richard Mace (Design Artist) - "I have just read this on your site that Brad Delp has passed away. This is very poignant to me as I created the artwork for the Delp and Gouldreau - Lost and Found album. It's always sad to hear of someone of such talent passing in the music industry and my thoughts tonight are with him and his family. Rest in peace... he will forever be remembered for his contribution to music."

Me - Not sure where to start. When such an idolized and prominent personality within this industry passes away, it feels like a member of the family is gone. And in some ways that is true. Like many many of you out there, my record/tape/CD collection features several albums featuring Brad's magic vocals - and I have probably spent more time with some of those songs than I have with some family members! Well, you know what I mean...
Brad's untimely and unexpected passing effects us all. I can't think of a better way to pay tribute to this fine talent than to sign off right here and throw on some classic Boston. R.I.P. Brad.
As I have done in the past to pay tribute to an artist whose music is closely connected with this website, is set up a condolence guest book for friends, fans and anyone else to sign in remembrance to Brad. Be assured that his management, family and friends will all be made aware of the guestbook. Our thoughts are with Brad's family at this time.
