View Full Version : Should Nintendo just be a game developer?

It's a interesting question. Should Nintendo just be a game developer? After all, every since the N64 they haven't had any respect from there consoles. Just from there games, and game franchises. I could go through a list of "mistake" or "downsides" that everyone saw in there past and now current console, but the question is important.
After all, you stick with Nintendo not because of the graphics, controls, etc. It's always that same line. "I care about gameplay"
Well, Nintendo can only improve if they just focused on making games for there franchises.
Food for thought. Will Nintendo end up as the next Sega?

No way! I think the Wii is revolutionary and will bring a whole new aspect of game play to the next systems. It's that one step closer to virtual reality.

I Just wish Nintendo could take a risk and have a better online service. I'm looking forward to Super Smash Bros Brawl and I know most Wii owners do but I would love to have a fun online gaming for it. I'm really worried with how Nintendo is handling this.

They will be. The Wii was just the first to do what it can do. It's a nice little thing they had but I have heard the PS3 can do the same. Right now the thing the Wii has going for it is the contols and the price.

Considering how well the DS is doing they're definitely going to stay in the portable gaming market.
As for the Wii, it's looking pretty similar to the DS launch. New idea, people are cautious whether it will turn out to be a flop or not and the unique controls haven't been utilized to their full potential yet by the majority of publishers.
I'm thinking that over the course of this year, The Wii will prove what it's worth. A bunch of first party Nintendo games coming out this year(Super Paper Mario, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime Corruption, Battalion Wars, Super Smash Bros Brawl etc...) and you can usually rely on Nintendo to release good quality games. There are also a bunch of interesting third party games coming out this year like Bob Ross Painting, Dragon Quests Swords, FF Crystal Chronicles, No More Heroes, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicals, Forever Blue etc...
The Wii is looking like it's going to really come out on top this year, a lot of shit coming out for it that looks really promising.
I really doubt Nintendo would go the route of becoming a third party developer considering how well the wii is currently(sales and popularity wise) doing and all the wii games coming out that look great.

It's not revolutionary at all...it's just gimmicky...for it to be revolutionary, things like its motion-sensing have to be likely to continue to thrive among the consoles, but its just going to come and go with the Wii...
Dual analog, that was revolutionary...CD's and DVD's for games, that was revolutionary...3D games, that was revolutionary...online gaming, that was revolutionary...
Those are things you will continue to see with real consoles for generations to come. Nintendo was pushing the envelope with the N64, introducing 3D gaming into the industry, but they died off on the Gamecube and Wii, relying on gimmicks, kiddie games, and relentessly remaking old franchises to satisfy fanboys...No part of the Wii is "revolutionary." It is relatively fun, yes, but it isnt pushing the industry any direction...
So Sony just went along with the gimmick then?

So Sony just went along with the gimmick then?
They went with a more subtle gyro/motion sensing in a standard controller.
Nintendo went all out and made an awkward, un-gamerfriendly(though pretty fun) pointer with gyro and motion sensing as its primary functions...
Sony's idea is actually more likely to be implimented in future generations of games.

Revolutionary. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/revolutionary)
You're welcome.
It's a good idea to know what a word means before you start making claims that base themselves around said particular word.
The Wii is revolutionary. It's a new and innovative concept. Nintendo did the same thing with the DS, and it appears that the PSP2 might be following in it's footsteps. Deja Vu.
And dual analog sticks has been around for a long time, the Playstation was simply the first big console to encorporate it.
It's not revolutionary at all...it's just gimmicky...for it to be revolutionary, things like its motion-sensing have to be likely to continue to thrive among the consoles, but its just going to come and go with the Wii...
If its going to come and go with the Wii, then Sony's motion control (arguably very inspired by Nintendos) to be passed on means Nintendo did make an impact on the industry, hence making something revolutionary. Or did Sony do motion sensing first? (Just like they invented rumble, or so they claim)

sony still didnt improve anything, just like microsoft didnt. they both just beefed up their hardware and nothing else (in context to the console itself). and the motion sensing in the ps3 was nothing but a throw in so they could write more things on their consoles cardboard box.
im not a fanboy, i dont care. i love my 360 and id probably love my ps3 if i had it or my wii. but the wii actually took gaming on a different direction this time compared to its competitors. theres no arguement against that.

Nothing in the wii is going to be seen 10 years from now...
Dont get me wrong, the Wii is fun and all...I am greatly enjoying my play-through in Zelda, but its wrong to call it revolutionary, or Nintendo still a revolutionary company...

Can you find me a link to the MadCatz product that used accelerometers and the ability to detect where it is in space? I can't seem to find it. And how did Sony get it just right? By not pushing the envelope on the idea and do the same thing MadCatz did? Revolutionary....
I agree with Molson, all the PS3 and XBOX360 did was beef up their hardware. I can make a computer that specifically places games and call it a console too. Atleast the Wii has something computers dont. (As far as I know) You'd have to be ignorant to think Nintendo hasnt done something new.
But before this turns into a console war, I've said it in a previous thread. If Nintendo remains profitable in the console buisness, I wouldnt expect them to be going anywhere. And right now they are profitable.

Nintendo will always a place because they think progressively. They are always looking for ways to make the game experience different. I look forward to see what their R/D department comes up with every generation. The powerglove was 20 years ago and while it definitely sucked, the idea and inspiration was there. The Wii's control scheme isn't far off what they probably had in mind all that time ago, makes you wonder what else they'll be capable of as technology evolves.

...Just to name a few. Not revolutionary? I've always loved it how Nintendo Fans cry that the WiiMote should now be standard and is the best thing to ever happen to gaming. Wrong. It is a gimmick, it's so far working well but most of the games released it just feels like it's tacked on, even WiiSports for example. Play WiiBoxing and it doesn't follow punches properly or dosging left and right.
I'm just glad Nintendo finally did something revolutionary, it's been what, 12 years since Super Mario 64 and Rumble?

Hate to break it to you, but none of that list is really revolutionary. They just took things that have been on the PC for a decade or so and added them to consoles. Woohoo. (Cept for blu-ray and HD DVD which were made more for home movie systems. It's like when they switched over to DVDs from Cds. Not revolutionary, it was just the next logical step.) They're just improvements, not revolutionary concepts.
Yes, sorry to say, the wiimote is somewhat revolutionary. No one has done motion sensing that well before, at least outside of an arcade. Some games it really works for, some it just shouldn't have a part of at all. If done right, it can really immerse you in the gameplay. Like in Twilight Princess. And I know playing games like Manhunt 2 and Sadness are gonna make me feel like a horrible, horrible person when I play them on the Wii.
And obviously you don't own a Wii, so you wouldn't be really used to the controls, so you suck at Wii boxing and blame it on the controls. You're prolly like my 6-year-old nephew who just flails his arms around during boxing. :ahhh:
But still, the Wii isn't really a hardcore gaming platform. It's a shitload of fun, and it's going to have a lot more adult titles on it this time around, but it just doesnt have the raw processing power to make the "whoa!"-type graphics that too many teenagers jerk off to. Thats why I bought my 360 in addition to the Wii, to play some of the more exciting titles that game developers aren't going to bother making on the Wii because of its lack of power. And then when I feel like having a bit of fun doing more casual games, I'll just flick on the Wii.

So you gave this nice list. Is this all supposed to be revolutionary?
Blu-Ray - nothing to do with videogames
HDVD - nothing to do with videogames
Xbox Live! -existed last gen.
Xbox Live! Arcade - hmm sounds familar to the Nintendo Virtual Console, except they update the games. Seems like they improved on something Nintendo announced they were doing about a year earlier
Xbox Live! Video Marketplace - Yeah my satelitte reciever allows me to download movies too. So does my computer.
PSHome - Second Life
Physics - What games have revolutionary physics? I havent seen anything yet.
Graphics - What did they do revolutionary here? Add more polygons? Better textures?

Hd-DVD - Same as above...But Microsoft were both smart and stupid with this.
Xbox Live! - It was here before and was revolutionary then. Now they've got video chat, text and picture messaging. Improved compatibility. Tis is more an Evolution of gaming but still note worthy.
Xbox Live! - Marketplace Nice how you skipped this.
Xbox Live! - Arcade Lawl. Microsoft announced this first, they intended to put it into the original Xbox...6 years ago. Nintendo and sony just took the idea and made their own versions/rules/etc.
Xbox Live! Video Marketplace - Yes, but these are HD Videos and Movies, both permanent and as "Rentals". It's an evolution of "Media meets Games"
PSHome - It's been added to the Console. Simple life did it first, but the achievement base of it is taken from a revolutionary part of the 360.
Physics - Euphoria Engine. 'Nuff said.
Graphics - As Graphics evolve, it leads to revolutionary art styles in games. Okami?!
Achievements - Revolutionary
Gamertags - The fact there's automatic 360 Blogs, Gamerscore charts and an identity card and such from such a small thing as an alias, it's revolutionary.
All of this and more from both the PS3 and 360 and the Wii has...A Motion Sensing Gimmick? I guess you could say friend codes :lmao:

This is retarded because my brother own's a Wii and it isn't that revolutionary. To me its GameCube graphics with PS2's Eyetoy games.
My friend who is a boxer...actually anyone new to Wii will play the boxing as if it was in real life, or how its portrayed in the commercials. My brother and his friends would kill anyone and all they do is hold it upright like 2 pencils and make TINY sharp tap movements, still owning anyone.
Do you guys honestly think the controller is revolutionary? The only good games out imo is TP and Wii Sports. A lot of the games using the controller feels really gimmicky and useless. Check this month's EGM and every new game out has around 4.0 scores.
And don't get me started with VC. I was so hyped at the possibilities before launch but all Nintendo has been doing is releasing overpriced ports. Not even online play. Not even compilations like Sega/Capcom/Midway Collections, or even Mario All Stars. No they want to take your money.
Its funny because I still love Nintendo (check my above post) but the Nintendo needs to start stepping its game up honestly. There hasn't been anything lately to make people brag about the Wii.

No matter what you say about the Wii it's not going to take away from the fact that it's selling like hot cakes. And in the end that's all that really matters for Nintendo to be successful. Developers will gravitate towards the system their product will sell the most units on. And right now it's looking like the Wii might just be that system.
Nintendo have this shit on lock. I already pointed out good reasons why they might dominate this year game wise. And I'm pretty sure they are currently the best selling console of 07.

It's always been the closest estimate when it came to PR Interviews and Company Announcements of how many Consoles they've SOLD, not SHIPPED. Also, looking at the "Games sold" on VGCharts, it lists GoW as only selling 2 Mill, yet Epic made an anouncement they had sold 4 mill last week, etc, etc.

Tell the nearly 6 million people that Nintendo shouldn't have put out the Wii as a console or the million or so people having difficulty finding the Wii in their area. They are also going to reach 6 million consoles sold by the end of this month, which will have been the fastest to reach that total ever for a game console (doing it in half the time Xbox 360 did it). The fact that it may not have the hardware specs as Xbox 360 and PS3 is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. If there is a demand amonst the consumers, that's all that matters. The numbers/demand alone should answer your question on whether Nintendo should continue making consoles or not. The fact that they do via novelty game play (controllers), relying on classic/exclusive games and cheaper price is not reason for them not to be a console maker, it actually shows you can succeed with smart ideas, instead of loading up a console with expensive hardware and pushing that as your selling point. Competition is good, if it weren't for Nintendo's cheap pricing of the Wii, just imagine how much more the PS3 and Xbox 360 would cost.

Most people who bought the Wii bought it for the controller. Thats probably half the reason I bought one, but there are games I want that are coming out for the Wii only, that being the other half of why I bought it. (Zelda, FE11, SSB:B, Residend Evil: UC)
Overall I am a bit dissapointed in the Wii thus far, and I did expect it to be a little better. The controller is awsome and all, but I side more towards Moo with the "it will porbably dissapear next generation" theory.
360 has games like Gears of War, which I personally thought was too gray and dull with some of its level designs. Also Rainbow 6 vegas is my favorite games on it right now (until Bioshock!!!)
I've only played Resistance on the PS3 so far, and it did have some glitching through the campaign (mobs warped around once) but it was overall a great game with a story that was definatley decent.
I do own all three of the 'next gen' consoles, and in such I think I unfairly expected more out of all three. They are all good systems though, and I plan to enjoy/waste many of my free hours on.
Should Nintendo be a Sega-like game dev? Hell nah! The obviously did something right with the DS, and I believe that they will strike paydirt soon enough with a system they can truley call revolutionary that can be remembered as an 'everyone had one' console. All they have to do is keep trying to be different.

^^^^Yeah...as fun as it is, it is not "revolutionary..."
Here are Nintendo's revolutionary ideas:
Their original controller design
Analog sticks
3D games
Perfected handheld gaming
Etc...
You can see how it is revolutionary because of how it is seen throughout gaming and will be seen throughout for generations to come...
The Wii controller, however, will never become a standard in gaming, as fun as it is...And because of that, it is not revolutionary.

Ok heres an example of what the Wii is doing for video games
http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/773/773239p1.html
In terms of each specific version, the PS3 game is apparently being "developed to maximise the technology in the new console format such as a 16-player feature rich simultaneous online mode with elements not yet seen in any race game to-date",
Ok so the Playstation 3 version is going to actually bring new elements to the game.
What is the Wii version doing?
the Wii game will "fully support the unique control system offered by this system, including control by a Wii steering-wheel

Yes rand0m, we know you want to have gay anal relations with your ps3. And as for the ps3 version bringing new elements in, you would think that, y'know, motion sensing is a new element too..not to mention that's only one game. While in the instance of a racing game, even though just being able to tilt the controller to control your car isn't really a huge innovation, it does add a little to the experience, and there are tons of other genres of games where it can be a big improvement. Of course, since this would detract from your argument about why the ps3 is so great, you forgot to mention what the "Wii is doing for video games" outside of this one racing game. I think you're just pissed off that your precious console is being beat to shit sales-wise. :wah:

I'm sorry, you seem to be under the illusion i have a PS3. I support both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, however the Nintendo Wii has done nothing but dissapoint me from the moment it was released.
As a gamer i feel Nintendo has basically spat in our face, constantly bombaring us with trash like 'its gameplay not graphics', or presenting decent gaming as 'sad' while boasting about how 'fun' complete retards that know nothing of video gaming find their Wii.
I know quite a few people who have Nintendo Wii's the ones which actually know what a graphics card is or a CPU is have all gotten bored of it? Why? Because its controller is gimmiky and that aside your left with a piss poor system.
The only people I've heard good reviews from are people that have played it for a couple of minutes while round someone else's house. That basically sums up the Wii for me. I wouldn't mind playing around with one, i just don't want one.
They claim it has the best value, but does it really? I mean I could pick up a PS2 for £50, it has a far supirior fan base, loads and loads of fun games and it can actually play DVD's.
What happend to getting all the old SNES, Nintendo 64 etc etc games free online? What happend to the so called 'revolution'?
There is a reason Microsoft and Sony have bought out a more powerful machine and not just flung us off with a half assed machine hidden by a gimmik? You see Game developers, the ones that actually make the games, have used the Xbox and the PS2 to the full potential, they can no longer stretch the boundaries of gameplay.
So we the get the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 with massively supieror CPU's and GPU's, and what do we get for that? We get a completely new more complex more indulging experience. What do Wii owners get? Some weird controller inducing false hope for a decent future.
So once again i ask, Why did Nintendo even bother with a entire new system? Why didn't they just bring out the Wii controller for the GameCube ...?

With what rand0m said, I am inclined to agree for the most part. The CPUs on the 360/ps3 can do more for a game, rather than have a new style of play.
Don't get me wrong though, I do love my Wii. The only problem is that after I beat Zelda, all ive done on it is play gamecube games, but thats mostly because there is absolutley nothing out for it.
Ive had a shit-ton of fun on my 360, and I am going to pick up VF5 on my PS3 in a few days.
What Nintendo needs to do is accually release their fun games that they promote the Wii to have.
Out of all three though, I think I like the Wii the least.

It's not revolutionary at all...it's just
Dual analog, that was revolutionary...CD's and DVD's for games, that was revolutionary...3D games, that was revolutionary...online gaming, that was revolutionary...
Hey, don't make the 18 year old guys that still like mario and zelda and pokemans mad

Nintendo would be doing much better if they just went back to the way they used to do it, like with the super nintendo. A shit load of awesome games, Robocop vs Terminator, Beavis and Butthead, Street Fighter, Super Mario, and countless other awesome games, those were the days, I must have had nearly 100 snes games. Nintendo needs to be kick ass again, instead of doing all this kitty games bullshit.

No it wouldnt, Halo ranks supreme. SSB doesnt have any realistic combat, its definitily a fun game and i could play it for hours, but it just wouldnt be real enough to compete with Halo.
I'm sorry, you seem to be under the illusion i have a PS3. I support both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360, however the Nintendo Wii has done nothing but surprise me from the moment it was released.

I know quite a few people who have Xbox 360s and PS3s. The ones which actually know what a graphics card is or a CPU is have all gotten bored of it? Why? Because computers already have faster processors and more advanced graphics cards. All youre left with is a piss poor computer.
The only people I've heard good reviews from are people that have played it for a couple of minutes while round the local Best Buy or Futureshop. That basically sums up the PS3 for me. I wouldn't mind playing around with one, i just don't want one.

What happend to getting the boomerang controller and rumble? What happened to all those premade cgi videos we were shown that the games look nothing like?
There is a reason Microsoft and Sony have brought out a more powerful machine and not just flung us off with a machine that has fun games. You see Game developers, the ones that actually make the games, have used the Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox to the full potential, they can no longer stretch the boundaries of graphics.
So we the get the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 with massively supieror CPU's and GPU's, and what do we get for that? We get completely new polygons and better textures and SUPERDY DOOPER PHYSICS. What do Wii owners get? A new way to play video games and immerse ourselves into the gameplay with better physics and graphics than the gamecube.
So once again i ask, Why did Microsoft even bother with a entire new system? Why didn't they just bring out a computer which can be upgraded easier and can always have the best gpu and cpu available? Why didnt Sony just keep marketing their PS2? Its selling more than the PS3 anyways.
Fixed.
You take console gaming way to seriously.
I still dont understand the graphics thing either. If graphics are so important to "gamers", why do so many people play WoW? Why do people still play CS? Where's the advanced physics in that?

Graphics are just one of the major ways the PS3 and 360 are pushing the envelope.
WOW is amazing in its own right because it is pushing MMO's more and more, MMO's being yet another revolutionary idea...

You're ment to Bold the changed bit, ffs i dont wanna read my own post again.
Oh WoW isn't 'pushing' the graphics? Well ... it actually is ... considering the sheer mass amount in it, seamlesss enviroments etc etc.
There is a reason WoW is about 8 Gigabits ...
People still play CS, because they have formed clans and do tournaments, they have actually upgraded to the Source engine which imo is a vast improvment, anyone that doesnt like it doesnt like it because they get pwned.
I would say your argument is flawed, that is if you can call it an argument.
i was thinking about this the other day. It went from Sega vs. Nintendo, to N64 vs. PS1, to PS2 vs. Xbox, to 360 vs. PS3 vs. Wii...if history repeats itself..that means someone SHOULD fall out of the sales race..or at least lose considerable marketshare. Or it could just be that all three are just good enough to hold enough market share to survive.

Wow...
Anyway... I have to disagree with you. I think the Wii and its controller are great and perform excellently maybe you don't know how to use it? It's really not that hard... (sarcasm) I expect more good games to come out for it in the future. Its price was a big plus to me and was well worth it in my opinion. I'll never bash or abandon Nintendo since I grew up with their consoles.
It does have a few cons though... One is that it's probably going to be getting more kiddy movie/cartoon based games in the future (Barnyard, Spongebob etc.) which sucks because I don't think anyone in our age range actually wants to play them. Some game developers seem to be relying TOO much on the motion sensitivity in their games or adding it without refining it (Splinter Cell, Sonic). I really want to see more games that use it only for certain parts of the game and that it's refined so that it can be used easily (like Zelda).
I expect this will happen and that future games will have much better graphics (or awesome graphic styles), gameplay and control. I'm not going to be looking for a winner in the console war and sticking to them. I've played them all enough and I've decided what I like and don't like out of this generation's consoles.
I like the 360, I don't really like the PS3 but I won't go into detail on those two systems. My overall favorite gaming platform is the PC platform though. I play PC games (not WoW) at least 5x more than I play console games.
Everyone that I know seems to like the 360 the most, many of them are liking the Wii as well. Most people don't give a shit about the PS3 at the moment but that could change in the future.
Overall, I don't think Nintendo should become JUST a software developer since they are still making a profit and people still love their handhelds, consoles and games and will most likely continue to love them in the future.

As a gamer i feel Nintendo has basically spat in our face, constantly bombaring us with trash like 'its gameplay not graphics', or presenting decent gaming as 'sad' while boasting about how 'fun' complete retards that know nothing of video gaming find their Wii.
Nintendo owes nothing to you and other fans, remember they're like all other company's, profit comes first. They're going to make what will sell, not what will make their loyal fans cream their pants.
I know quite a few people who have Nintendo Wii's the ones which actually know what a graphics card is or a CPU is have all gotten bored of it? Why? Because its controller is gimmiky and that aside your left with a piss poor system.
They've probably gotten bored with it because of the lack of games for it right now. Most of its hard hitters are coming out latter this year, I'm sure most of your friends will have a renewed interest in the system once more games that are good come out for it.
The only people I've heard good reviews from are people that have played it for a couple of minutes while round someone else's house. That basically sums up the Wii for me. I wouldn't mind playing around with one, i just don't want one.
I wouldn't want one right now either, know why? Because the only game that's really good for it is Twilight Princess. Sure there are a bunch of other games for it that are fun, but none of them are really up there in that bracket of dope ass pimp shit(at least in my opinion) which are the only ones I tend to pay money for.
When a bunch of dope games come out for the system. Which will probably be around when the system becomes easily available(later this year) I'm going to want one. I bet you'll have a different opinion on it once games that take advantage of the new controller in a way that feels solid start coming out.
They claim it has the best value, but does it really? I mean I could pick up a PS2 for £50, it has a far supirior fan base, loads and loads of fun games and it can actually play DVD's.
???
Of course the PS2 is a better system than the Wii right now. It's been out much longer so it has a better catalogue of games. If you don't have a PS2 I recommend you get one.
And the PS2 dvd player fucking sucked. Always skipped scenes from movies with me.
What happend to getting all the old SNES, Nintendo 64 etc etc games free online? What happend to the so called 'revolution'?
I don't think Nintendo ever said the games would be free(not sure). But I remember those rumors about the games being free. I guess Nintendo decided to make some paper so they charge money for the games. They really should charge less for the games, but that's another topic.
The boundaries of gaming aren't necessarily defined by how pretty a game is.
Katamari Damacy took the boundaries of what defines a game pretty far and that didn't really have the best graphics or physics. Graphics have already come far enough with the PS2(my opinion) and physics don't have to be realistic for them to be good. I've seen gears of war on an HD TV, it's very pretty, but I still don't see the necessity of incredible graphics in a game.
So we the get the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 with massively supieror CPU's and GPU's, and what do we get for that? We get a completely new more complex more indulging experience. What do Wii owners get? Some weird controller inducing false hope for a decent future.
Graphics,AI and other shit aren't what makes a game great. Look at NES games that have shit graphics and AI by todays standards. They're still very good games that are beyond dope.
So once again i ask, Why did Nintendo even bother with a entire new system? Why didn't they just bring out the Wii controller for the GameCube ...?
Because the gamecube train had stopped. The hype behind the system ended, games stopped flowing out for it from 3rd party developers. Need something new to pull people in, so what better way to do that then to release a new system. If they released the wii controller for the gamecube, the only people that would buy it are those which already own the system.
They needed to make a new system with a whole new image to get more people to buy their shit. Should be obvious.

Madcatz did gyro first..Nintendo took their idea, and went too far with it, sony took it, and got it just right. The fact that they are pushing games content-wise, graphics-wise, physics-wise, and pushing online gameplay, is an advancement that is paving the way for even better graphics, gameplay, online gaming, etc...That is how they are revolutionary. Nothing in the wii is going to be seen 10 years from now...
Dont get me wrong, the Wii is fun and all...I am greatly enjoying my play-through in Zelda, but its wrong to call it revolutionary, or Nintendo still a revolutionary company...
This may already have been posted, I only read up to this post but here is a list of ideas Nintendo came up with, you decide whether it is revolutionary:
The platform game
The 3D platform game
The D - Pad
The Analogue stick
continue list?

I can't believe people want graphics over gameplay. I wish people here had grown up in the 90s :wah: I owned a 360, played every game on it and hated it, sold it then bought an old SNES and 64 and am extremely happy playing original Smash Brothers and Chrono Trigger. I don't want an online console, I'd rather just play alongside a friend and then move on instead of getting absorbed in neverending sessions that make me obese.*
*Not saying that this will make you obese but then again, I'd bet all the money I'll ever earn online gamers will look back in 20 years time and say what a fucking waste of my time online gaming was.
