I bought it off Amazon, with shipping for a grand total of $8.64.
Anyway, anyone have experiences? I was going to purchase the newest Total War but $50.00 for something I may not like seemed a bit much.
How's the AI?

It's a really great game. The AI can be difficult if you let them choose their own units (in skirmish mode).
I never really touched the campaign mode, I just liked seeing big battles.

Personally I think Rome might be better than Medieval. There are still some problems that need to be ironed out in Medieval that could make it perfect but for now some things piss me off, like cavalry trotting in circles instead of charging.

yeah, but in rome cavalry is insanely overpowered, especially late heavy cavalry. While they are sometimes really bad at pathfinding and actually getting places fast in medieval II in rome they are just way too fast and you can beat anything (except a human opponent online, though sometime you can with enough cavalry) with enough of them. Other than that really it is a cool game, definitely worth it.

Im horrible at managing cities
But the battles are rather awesome when they arent sieges. I hate sieging a city.
Rome: Total War and cracking out the Spartan Hoplites, woohoo!!

if the AI were better and it was easier to move troops and such and you had better control (and easier!) then it would be awesome, but it sort of lacks. I had fun with it though, loved to make my own scenarios.
300 made me wanna play this again, its a good game. for 8 bucks its risk free

Love it, but I would rather not get into the empire management mode (in campain). Thats for Civ series. I just want huge fucking battles.

Yeah, I'm somewhat upset, it said first class mail and no time when they actually ship was listed, they could just fucked around and send it a week from now.
Amazon says I should receive it in 2-3 weeks, slow sons of bitches. Shows I shouldn't of been so cheap.
$20.00 at BestBuy, instant happiness
$8.64 at Amazon, may hate the game before it reaches me
