Queen were great but Led Zeppelin were greater.
EDIT: Anyone hear about Jimmy page's new signature double neck?

I can't stand the lead singers voice for Led Zepp. Makes me cringe. Otherwise I'd like them.

That would be Robert Plant. And how the fuck does it make you cringe? The mans vocal range is incredible.

Probably because he sounds like a cat who had a rocking chair crush it's tail. I dont like him too much either, there are far better vocalists.
The unfortunate thing about Queen is that too many people base their opinions on what they hear on the radio. Queen has so many better songs than whats on the radio everyday, i hate "Bohemian Rhapsody", but i fucking love "Get Down Make Love".

Too bad Brian May & Roger Taylor are shameless cunts. Dont think they know the meaning of the word exploitation. Atleast when Page & Plant toured & made a record they didnt call themselves Led Zeppelin.

I'm sure he is a talented singer. I just don't like the way his voice sounds. I also hate the way he prances around on stage with his chest hair poking through his unbuttoned shirt. He just cheeses me out too much. I have this conversation with a die hard led zeppelin fan at my office. :)

I kind of feel the same way about Geddy Lee. I really wish I could like him because Rush's music is amazing.

Well, another thing about Robert Plants voice was that It got worse as the years went on. Although he did get better in some areas, from watching some 1969 videos and ones just about a few years later, you could already see a drastic change. Here is a video of Where his voice was at its best IMO.

And heres another awesome clip from 1972 (This one will probably make TimeBomb cringe :))

I'm not a very big fan of Queen, but I love Led Zeppelin.

Vocally, Freddy Mercury was a fucking god. Queen was an extremely talented band, but I never got into them much.
As for Led Zeppelin, they were just a great overall band. Plant has some crazy emotional sounding vocals (and yes, I can understand how it would get on some people's nerves.) Jimmy Page, not the greatest, but for the era he fit his part perfectly. And of course Bonham beats were out of this world at the time, I just love some of the fat sounding bass/snare action he could get.

page is a genius.. but their fucking singer annoys the hell out of me

To be considered the greatest band ever, you have to have the greatest musicians ever, the greatest songs ever, and the greatest albums ever. Zeppelin had all of that. Jimmy Page is the greatest guitar writer there was, I prefer him over Hendrix. In terms of a performer, that obviously goes to Jimi.

I disagree with the starter of this thread
John Paul Jones, John Bonham, Robert Plant, and Jimmy Page. Can't beat that line-up.
Queen's good too, but it just doesn't seem like Queen without Freddy.

i don't listen to either bands, but i respect them (especially zeppelin) immensely.
i'd enjoy zeppelin if, as another poster said, plant's vocals appealed to me more. i just can't handle them, though.
but damn! page's guitarwork is so intruiging. it sounds easy to play, but it really isn't. even the simple ocean riff. it's like a tongue twister to play. i love that damn riff so much, though

I didn't watch the video, but two major fails here.
A. I think Megadeth sucks.
B. I think moshing is stupid.

I don't think that riff is hard to play. It is very simple but i could never have thought of it.
