I was going to do 10 but couldn't pick just 10 so I was going to do 20 but I cut it down to 15.
Here's my list and this is based off a life time of watching martial arts films. It's all based on overall stroyline, martial arts style, and the actual fight sequences. And yes, I own them all. My library does consist of over 80 vhs tapes and 60 dvds of martial arts movies alone. Here's the list:
-Druken Master (w/Jackie)
-Iron Monkey (Donnie Yen)
-Fist of Legend (Jet Li)
-Enter the Dragon (Bruce Lee)
-Big Boss (Bruce Lee)
-Ong Bak (much better than Tom Yum Goong as Ong Bak was more realistic).
-Hero (Jet Li)
-Once Upon a Time in China Series 1-3(Jet Li)
-Seven Samurai isn't really a martial arts flick but whatever. Awesome shit. (Kirosawa)
-Shaolin Temple (Jet Li's first)
-Fist of Fury/Chinese Connection (fuck that, any Bruce Lee film)
-Snake in the Monkey's Shadow (Hong-Yip Cheng, John Cheung)
-Shaolin Master/Master Killer (Gordon Lui)
-Five Deadly Venoms (Sheng Chiang, Phillip Kwok, Feng Lu)
-Best of the Best (Phillip Rhee) (This movie was very good and for the last scene alone, it was worth it. Single best martial arts sequence in any American-made/shot movie ever)
I decided to include one non-Asian film which was Best of the Best because it really does deserve to be on this list. All the rest are Chinese films with the exception of Seven Samurai. And no, I'm not Chinese or Japanese lol. Yeah, I left out CTHD but I'd keep it in top 20 though. There are a few other that deserve to be in top 20 but like I said, these are what I felt deserved to be in the top 15. If you haven't seen any of these films and like martial arts films, go do yourself a favor and watch them all. Yea, it's actually 17 films because of the trilogy of Once Upon a Time but whatever, it's my fuckin list:raiseeyeb
