The departed is much better, Infernal affairs is mostly based off of the Departed, so of course the departed is better.

I think you have that backwards. Infernal Affairs came out first so it can't be based on The Departed.

I haven't seen Infernal Affairs so I can't say which is better, but I have heard that Infernal Affairs has a better ending than The Departed.

Try it the other way round.

The Departed was based off Infernal affairs.

The Departed was a good remake, but I personally prefer the original more

Are you (fucking) kidding me? The departed was written in 1999, 3 years before Infernal Affairs came out. Infernal Affairs...more like Infernal copyoffthedeparted affairs. Check your facts dudes.

Everything I see says that they were written by the same guy in 2002. Basically, it's the same script. The writer also directed Infernal Affairs.

You are wrong. It is a fact that it is a remake. They said it repeatedly at the oscars about it being the first remake to win an oscar and so on. It doesn't matter which was written first(where is your source?) the fact is that Infernal Affairs inspired The Departed.

Check your facts before telling someone else to check their facts.

Okay, lets see your proof that the Departed (Made in 2006) came before Infernal Affairs (Made in 2002)

Then why did The Departed win Best ADAPTED Screenplay if it was an Original?

Well I don't know which was made first, but in my opinion, The Departed was better.

At least this person had the mental fortitude to admit that he didn't know what he was talking about: The Departed was made first; its better.

So what do you think about this?

Yeah i know this is an old thread, but this guy still doesn't seem convinced that Departed is a remake of Infernal Affairs.
