... I rant and rant about stupid drivers almost every living moment of my life... but today... I was tossed a curve ball.
Going down to my parents house, I almost ran into a parked car at 50mph. However, my recovery couldn't have worked out any more perfect. lmao
But on a more serious note, I almost ran into a parked car at 50mph. I was distracted by a black Tahoe parked off to the side of the road some yards ahead while approaching an interesection I though gave us the green.
My immediate thought that sparked a whole world of distraction was, "Isn't that a cop?" And then I continued to think... because Firestone/Frederick got new policing units a few years ago that are blacked-out Tahoes (I glance back at traffic (we're appraoching the intersection - didn't look at the acutal light, just the car in front of me) and continued my investigation).
A lady from the other side of the Tahoe comes marching into view... "Oh shit, just another fucking Coloradian with a car." I then glance at traffic again...
HOLY SHIT!
The ass end of a dark green Savanah came barreling upon me, as I couldn't stop in the few meters of space I had in time. My tires went screeching and I steered away from the van as much as I could, my truck grinded to the right veering into a turning lane. I quickly looked over to see if anyone was coming up on me (which no one was) and saved myself (and everyone else) by merging into the right hand turning lane. Luckily the roads were nearly empty that day. Embarassed as shit I didn't even stop to gesture an apology... but I turned away and hauled ass. lmao
I guess I learned a few things... my truck can't stop from 50mph in only a few meters space. And that my truck has incredible handling. :D
But then also... no matter how good of a driver anyone is, ultimately anything can happen. Anyone can crash. Though this happened, my opinion of Coloradian drivers hasn't changed, and I'm as passionate about that as ever.
But I'm just glad I could pull away and save everyone from my stupidity. It was a pretty intense ordeal...
