I'm considering it.
A friend chipped his own and pulled it off well. He went with the WiiKey (http://www.wiikey.cn/), claiming it was the best (the guy mods everything he owns pretty much so I trust his knowledge) and is now playing Gamecube "Backups" while he gets his Wii "Backups". A cool feature which I noticed is you can dump retail games onto SDCards using this, which pushed me and a second friend into ordering them online.
My question is has anyone done this? I've got a few guides that I can get lent to me but I don't want to get in anything over my head. We've got 3 sets of soldering irons already, one we brought specifically for the apparently ever so small solder points. So how hard is it?

Easy as pie, just make sure to put lots of solder on. Like pile it on. Oh and make sure you wear socks and rub your feet on some carpet then touch everything in the Wii first, it helps with the solder.;)
No because I support hard work and great games, lets all go get machines that grow produce for us so farmers can't make a living. No wonder its so tough to get into the video game business, you have to pull long ass hours because of piracy.

I've never built a PC. Nor do I have Qualifications in Science. So I have no idea of Static Electricity.
I also have no Qualifications in Electronic Manufacturing. So I had no idea joining those little black lines or the Solder Points together was how you did it.
:p
Oh and Cee. I only planned on buying SSBB. this year. They'd only be technically losing £40...When compared to those old 'N' Worshippers who are doing it, it's quite nothing.

Theft is theft. Just pony up and buy shit, it's much less illegal that way.

I was running around the house with a hardon and chipped my wii on the dinner table:(
I never done a Wii..but with xbox's the installation of the chip is EASY! The first time you install bios and other programs is confusing though..

Exactly, who wants to work 19 hours a day to put out a game that gets pirated? Theres more people behind a game besides the developers, like distributors, publishers, promotions, manufacturing, delivery, and retail.
As I got older my whole thought around piracy has changed. I was in highschool during the napster days and I didn't care because it came to me free. Most people filesharing for granted because from what I see its a 1000:1 ratio, download vs sharing.
