Ironically, the Camry is Toyota's worst model.

Wow... I guess I am a dorky fag then.
I concur, Thai, the 4cyl Camry is the worst model...but the ES350 is Lexus's best model....hmmm, I wonder if it's the engine? Considering the Scion tC is also the worst Scion and they share the same 2.4L VVTi engine as the 4cyl Camry's do...and I suspect the two share the same transmissions as well, which are known to malfunction on 4cyl Camrys...Maybe it's the transmission.

Pontiacs most reliable model is the vibe, which is basically a toyota matrix with a pontiac body.
But audi did fairly well considering it's an upscale VW.

Had a look at the "Top Picks For 2007" section and was surprised that there was no sports car category. :confuzed:
The closest they've got is a "Fun to drive" category, which presumably contains everything including sports cars, sports sedans, hot hatches, roadsters ect.

The graphs are a little misleading. You'll notice that Audi's bar overlaps completely with Volkswagen's bar. Since the manufacturers are ranked by averages and averages are prone to outliers, the Touareg significantly reduced Volkswagen's average. All of Audi's and Volkswagen's cars could have the same rating, but adding an extra unreliable car to Volkswagen's average but not Audi's makes it appear as though Audi is a lot more reliable than Volkswagen. I'm stating this assuming Audi's average doesn't include the Q7. One would be able to draw better conclusions from a more comprehensive box plot containing marks for the middle 50% and outlying entries.

Seeing the progression of cars made by VW, it's safe to say that car makers are on the whole only a shadow of their former selves. I know it's fairly true for VW, so I'd imagine it to be true for many other manufacturers including those in the US.
If this test was conducted for new cars in 1988 you can almost guarantee VW and Audi would head the list, but that's not really the case these days.

First thing to remember is until recently I think all Americas VW's were assembled in Mexico. Mk3 Polos were assembled in Spain and aren't a patch on a true Wolfsburg Mk2.
But I agree. The only VW made after the Corrado that I think is any good would be the new Golf GTI as far as build quality goes. I think they've relied too much on their reputation than continuing to earn it. I've not really seen many VW "fanboys" on any of the forums I've been too. Most if not all of the dub-nuts much prefer the aircooled and early watercooled cars.

I think the reverse is true, all the major brands have at least tolerable quality these days. The buying public no longer tolerates large differences in build quality.
