If the upcoming release of American Dad series 2 is half as good as series 1 then I’ll be a very happy chappy indeed. Shocking that the latest one’s not even aired on tv here (in the UK) yet, but makes the anticipation for the new dvd that much greater. I’m expecting a wealth of extras too.
I realise that for anyone in the US reading this that I’m preaching to the converted. We always seem to be behind the times here with getting new series, so if you’ve not heard of AD, then it’s Family Guy - it’s by the same people - but with a worldly and strong political slant. The jokes are all spot on and ‘translate’ really well, so no jumbo jet moments (nothing that'll go over your head with a huge roar!).
The dad – Stan – works for the CIA and is about as right wing as they come and then there’s the ‘to be expected’ (but always funny) clashing of heads with his daughter – Hayley – who’s a very clued up, ultra liberal teenager. There’s the doting wife, geeky son and an array of quirky extras.
Roll on the end of May. It’s out on the Bank Holiday, so if it’s a rainy day – like the last one – then I’ve already got 6 or 7 hours of my day planned out already! Phone off the hook, mobile switched off. The girlfriend is welcome to come over and watch, but there’s no way I’m leaving my sofa!
There's a podcast (http://www.foxtvdvd.co.uk/americandad/podcast/) out now, but not sure how often they're being released. Quite a big file (27 or 28mb), but gives you a flavour of AD if you haven't seen it already.
Any other ADdicts out there?
