Ubiday Live - Ubisoft annouce Beowulf for Xbox 360

Today Ubisoft held its Ubidays event in Paris and the company announced it will publish the videogame tie-in to the upcoming Beowulf movie. Directed by Robert Zemeckis (The Polar Express), the movie is an adaptation of the classic story of the warrior Beowulf and his battle with Grendel and Grendel's old lady.

The game will be a hack 'n slash affair that Alain Corre, executive director of Ubisoft's European, Middle Eastern, and Asian territories, reportedly said will "reinvent" the genre. The team behind Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is handling development. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot added that he thinks the game will be "amazing."

I like it when he said "reportedly said will "reinvent" the genre". Ubisoft have amazing Dev Houses, especially their Montreal Team (PoP, Assassins Creed, 360's Naruto). I love the Beowulf stories so hopefully they'll pull this off.

SOunds cool, be nice if it goes to the PS3 also as I like those kind of games. If not, *shrugs shoulders* I do caution the idea of "reinventing the Genre". I have been playing games since 1979 and heard that phrase so much it makes my eyes cry. Montreal Team has not disappointed yet though

Seriously, I agree they have some good programmers in Canada. I'll be moving to England, Canada, the US or back to Australia to do game programming after uni. NZ just doesn't cut it.

Yeah... Too bad Ubisoft is a publisher, like EA. The game is actually being developed by a German developer, 4head. But you're right, I've never been disappointed by Ubisoft as I have by some other publishers.

Well they do both, they have in house developers IE: Montreal Studios, Redstorm, Wolfpack etc.

They developed a lot of games, but I made a mistake and didn't read Xeo's post thoroughly.
