I'm sick and fucking tired of these stupid garbage movies about games. There must be at least twenty I've heard about being in production. This is one of the worst ideas for a game to turn into a movie. The Sims is an open-ended life-simulation sandbox game. A movie based on a game based on life. Cut the middleman and you have a movie based on life. Vague, much? You can just take any story about life, throw in Bob Newbie and Mortimer Goth, and slap a Sims title on it.

They could make a halo 3 movie, gears of war (actually i think they are making one) half life 2, FEAR. ANd they fucking make a sims movie? the fuck is this shit.

This is going to be a fail of absolute epic proportions. My guess is it's probably just gonna be a family who doesn't know that they're sims or something, and have to put up with all the sim-related anomalies (the strange diamond things over their heads, furniture appearing out of nowhere, stuff like that). Then again, probably not. Either way it's gonna be cancelled.

Video game based films tend to be better than film based games, but The Sims makes for a crappy story. God Games never go well as films.

You know, that's exactly what I thought it was going to be. But with Will Ferrell starring as Mr. Sim.

Hell, maybe it will be Jim Carey playing as Mr. Sim, and his family just moved in next door to the main characters(who eventually get tired of the 3a.m. parties and kids peeing on themselves and run the Sims over with cars that won't exist until EA makes an expansion for the movie).

Well, there's one good thing about the movie. No EA.

I also am pretty sure they at least started to make a Halo movie with Peter Jackson directing it...I think something went wrong and they stopped though...

They wanted to spend a ton of money on it, so Fox backed out. I'm not sure, but I think someone picked up where Fox left off. AFAIK the Halo movie is still being made.

And Hollywood does this all the time (i.e. snapping up the rights to games, books, etc.) when they have no or very little interest in actually turning them into movies in the foreseeable future. It's always just to cover their bases.
