Reading that link in the flame-war thread got me thinking;

What is your favourite game controller ever?

Dual Shock, Six Axis. PS controllers are the best imo.

Gamecube. It fit in my hand perfectly, buttons were all in a good place, analog sticks where they are comfortable, and it was easy for me to pick up and play any game. Only things I didn't like about it was the small Z button and D pad.

A super nintendo controller always felt perfect in my hands.

Either the 360 or the PS.

Man, I have to admit, the 360 is comfortable, and convenient and shit. It's well built.

But the Dualshock is.. the Dualshock! The fucking way you pound into the D-Pad. The different LR buttons, X, O, S and T.

It's all good.

The n64 was the fucking worst. Why the hell do I need 3 prongs when I only have 2 hands?

Oh god, and the way the little prog thing was so STIFF and fucked, it just kind of fell to the side like a flacid penis and was a bitch to use.

I've never liked the PS controllers. GC controllers fit my hand perfectly. It's almost as if they were built for my hands.

Why cant they put a track ball in a controller?

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=23058&doy=30m5&C=SO&U=strat15

it would help fps so much.

I voted dual shock for ps. Its nice in the hand, good rumble effect and the buttons are easy to reach.

Yeah n64 was horrible, I have no clue how I mastered Super mario 64 so well with it.

I voted for the Wii. It's not the motion sensing that I like, it's the fact that I don't have to keep my hands 3 inches from each other.

Voted for the Dual-Shock. Tried and true, this baby lasts even till now, it's practically iconic (well the button patterns already are I suppose). I like how tight and accurate the D-pad is, ideal for fighting games.

The boomerang originally designed for the PS3 was a good idea, my PC controller is shaped in exactly the same fasion, even button-wise, and it's comfortable as hell. But enough people bitched about the new design (which isn't really even that new, PS1 already had that type of controller) so they scrapped it for the original design.

I don't think Sony kept the same design for so long because it was a good design, I think they did it for backward compatibility. It's very hard to play an older game when you have to get used to knowing where all the new buttons are, just like the black and white buttons becoming shoulder buttons on the 360. It's also the reason the Wii controller is a wireless NES turned sideways with some extra buttons. If you think about it, all controllers this generation are just older controllers with added/moved/different-style buttons than before.

But back on topic, I vote for the GC controller. I loved the pressure sensitive shoulder buttons, the small design, and Nintendos patented d-pad design. But most of all, the giant A button with the less commonly used B,X, and Y buttons orbiting it made the whole controller very easy to learn and easy to use. What I didn't like, though, was the uncomfortable B and Z button placements and how the C-stick felt like a nipple.

The poll should have been worst controllers. Because the XBox 360, PS, Gamecube all are decent controllers with not drawbacks.

However as for the Nintendo 64 controller ... man that was horrible.

I don't like the duealshocks for one reason. The analog sticks have such a massive dead spot that I find I end up using them like a d-pad. I voted for the Dreamcast baecause the analog stick and triggers allowed for precise control even if the ergonomics wasn't spot on (8 hours of play could leave you with quite painful hands).

I had to vote for 360, just for its perfect fast-paced FPS set-up, like for Halo.

But the PS controllers are perfect for fighting, action(like God of War), and slower paced tactical shooters like Socom.

Had to be the PS, just neatley slots into a relaxed grip. I havn't held a 360 one, but the Xbox one sucked for me.

Wii is the best cause it just fits in your hand. PS controllers in general are bad for me. The joysticks are placed weird and i dont like using the d-pad except when i play fighting games. The new xbox controller is definatly an improvement over the old one but it could be better.

I'll go with the 360, because I like the way it fits in my hand, but ps2 is a close second.

i always loved the n64 controller. sure it's ugly as fuck, but it worked great, and it bascially brought both the analog stick and rumbling controllers into existence.

i hope majority of you know that the last few systems that since the ps1 have all based the control design around the SNES

I hafta say the SIXAXIS. Ultralight, wireless, tried and true design, and you can turn the system on and off with it. God bless America.

i voted for the gamecube, because like a lot of you, it just fit perfectly in my hands. every butten or joystick was right there; none of the ridiculous maneuvers to press the L button like you'd have to do for the n64. and as for the n64 controller, what was up with the joystick? after a while, they'd get really crappy and flimsy. plus, that little bugger gave me a blister playing mario party 1! :preachon:

Are you talking about the minigame where you see how many times you can rotate the joystick in like 10 seconds? Me and all my friends got blisters on the palms of our hands from seeing how high we could get.

i like the small xbox1 controller, the only thing wrong is it needs the bumpers. but i like the feel of the controller better than the 360 controller as a whole. feels different.

and playstation controllers are too small. damn childs toys

The 360 controller is better in just about ever aspect for me, the one thing I like better about the PS controllers is that I have to look down at the 360 sometimes to remember where the x,y,a, and b buttons are, but I think that's just because I've had the PS layout engraved in my mind from when it first came out. I bet most people are voting for the PS controller just because they have used it for over 10 years now and are accustomed to it. I think it's hard to argue that the 360 doesn't fit in your hands more comfortably, its triggers aren't better, its joysticks aren't better positioned and better feeling, and and it feels more sturdy and less cheap than the sixaxis.
