I've not watched the film or any trailers, clips etc, so I could be completely wrong. However, I went to imdb and checked out the soundtrack listings for the film and it's quite possible the song was:

"Let The Drummer Kick It" by Citizen Cope.

Well yes I could have, and I did, feebly as it may have been. But I was almost certain that the lyric was "let the troubled kid die", and I admit I did not make the association of the two phrases. However, I will thank you for your effort.
