Virtual Fighter 5 is officially better visually on the 360:

man, is it just me or does the 360 seem to have a stranglehold on the PS3?

People need to stop comparing ports then. Only exclusives will show off either consoles true potential.

its just you, the developers just didnt take full adventage of the PS3 but its easy to do that on the 360.

So PS3 owners only have to wait till 2009 till they can see how awesome the system can be? J/K assholes.

380 games will be available by Mar 2008. but most of them probably will be shitty games.

While Virtua Fighter 5 is a port of the PS3 version, refinements have been made to pretty things up. The aliasing issues, which were quite noticeable in the PS3 version, are gone from the 360 build. There's no shimmer, no ugly jagged lines -- Virtua Fighter 5 on 360 is beautiful. There are a lot of nice, subtle effects that add a nice touch to the environments, such as early-morning fog rolling across the arena. The backdrops are clean and colorful and the game runs smooth as a thoroughbred.

Yay for getting rid of the unnoticeable jaggies! Seriously o_O, unless you're comparing the two versions of games on two side-by-side HD TV's, you're not going to notice any of these improvements. If you are taking the time to notice them, then you're probably going to get your ass whooped while you're staring at the scenery XD (like I first did when my buddy bought me the game). Definitely not a "blow" to the PS3 (why would it even be? It's had all the time in the world to sell, and does this even matter to us?).

Now what would be really nice is if they found a way to make online play possible, without any lag or delay whatsoever so that all the precision-based attacks and combos can be used to their fullest. Even if there is some delay, it'd still be fun, though hardcore fighters won't be able to push their characters to the limits like in offline mode. Definitely one of the best and most in-depth fighting games I've ever played.

when will developers finally "take full advantage" of the PS3's amazing specs... i doubt that Sony will ever admitt any game has "taken full advantage" of what our console has to offer.

i say it's a blow because the PS3 is superior graphically (according to Sony, we have yet to see this) and IGN comes out and says that one of the best games coming out is better graphically on the 360 rather than the PS3. I think since Xbox Live is superior than PSN the game has a good chance of going online but who knows it's already been said awhile back that there would be no online play.

It all depends on the porting job and how much effort is put it. Oblivion is better on the ps3 for example. http://www.gamespot.com/features/6171831/p-5.html
It goes both ways.

yeah to be fair the 360 has been out longer, but i heard that the 360 and PC versions have add-on via DL's so those two are better than the PS3 version though it does seem to have better graphics but add-on > graphics. i bet i seem biased but i should note that i've had the following consoles: Sega Genesis, N64, PS2 and now the 360. by the way i've always thought the ones i've had were the best. :dunce:

Oh lawdy, not the fanboys again!

Try and understand something, both have their pros and their cons. The only thing really holding the PS3 back was Kutaragi. They gave that guy a boot to the head, and now the shit might (I stress MIGHT) turn around soon. Blu-Ray was a bad idea, without that the system probably would have cost less than the 360, and therefore might have had the larger user base, but again, this could change.

And before you start in on me, I've got the 360 and not a PS3, and I think it's faring better primarily because of price. If the PS3 and the 360 had started out oppositely in price (as in the PS3 cost less that the 360), I don't doubt for a minute that the PS3 would probably have dominated this by now.

Oh for god sake.

To put it simply:
- The PS3's Oblivion took almost an extra year and two delays before it even made a difference.
- The 360's VF took about 4-5 extra months and sorted out a few problems the PS3 version had.

Moral of the story? The 360 is amazingly easier to code for and port to. That's probably the biggest blow to Sony, because of it they've lost exclusives and whole games, not graphics, that's just something for people to gloat about.

Xeoset stop blaming development times, the Playstation 3's port runs faster because the extra space on the Blu-Ray disks enables the data to be streamed off the disk, where as the 360 has to read off the compressed data, un compresse it, then load it. Not because 'they spent more time on it'.

Actually Blu-Ray has proved to be very useful for the Playstation 3, since its complete lack of games it can at least pass off as a high definition player for untill games come out, the Blu-Ray also means the Playstation 3 has 1080p output.

Secondly look at the what the game developers are saying, from Rockstar to Konami, they're all saying the extra space is been used.

The one single problem with the Playstation 3 at the moment is the lack of games, and lucky for Sony thats the one thing its getting alot of.

Compression has nothing to do with the length it takes to make a game, really. The fact all PS3 Data is uncompressed only makes that time quicker, because they don't have to go out of their way to do it.

Anyway, I take it you're on about load times, which is just a small fraction of the improvements of both the PS3's Oblivion and the 360's VF.

You can dumb it down all you want, however the load times have been dramatically improved.

As for 360 ports been easy to make, ill repeat a slightly biased explanation.

The Playstation 3's cell is harder to program, because it does more. (http://gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=116728)
dont go apeshit xeoset, the playstation 3 isnt a complete failure

Lmao. You can provide links from anywhere to support your tech argument, it's nearly all down to the opinion of the source.

I can get into a huge geeky tech discussion, but you're only as strong as your weakest component which is what really pulls the PS3 behind. The OS takes up 62 MB of Ram full stop, the CELL is being held back by a number of reasons (having to cater Shaders for the GPU, one SPE will never work and another is said to be rubbish for everything gaming) and the GPU isn't on par with the CELL itself.

See what I did there?

Who gives a shit about gameplay.

I'm definitely getting a ps3 now.

That and the lack of good games....I mean they both should take a lesson from Nintendo, good innovative games win over graphics anyday.

at least until somebody finally starts doing porn games, FTW!

Yeah Hype is also a big factor however in the end it really comes down to its price.

Mother walks into a store kid bitching he wants computer games ...

PC (shit) = £300 - £400
Xbox 360 = £278
Playstation 3 = £430

Wii = £179.99

Yeah they're buying it for its games ...

If I wanted to be into a game for 45 minutes I'd go to an arcade. Their is a few nice titles but the rest are crappy movie or T.V. games or die off very quickly.
