CSS problem

everytime i double click the CSS icon to play, nothing pops up, even though its installed. has this ever happened to you? how do i fix it?

same thing to me!! when i double click on half life 2, the screen goes black for a couple of seconds and then returns to the desktop. waht do i do? i downloaded as much ram as i could!

I got this really annoying problem dunno if its steams fault... But anyway its as if i have 2 profiles. Sometimes when i play css its normal and everything is fine. If i play lets say 1 hour later, my screen names back to it what it was 2 months ago as well as my controls my spray etc etc. And i keep lagging because it says i am missing sound files (particularly Quake soundfiles), but they are there in the sound folder!

I have tried deleting local content, and then deleting everything manually and installing again but it didnt work. i have tried posting in steam's forums for help but i ever get a reply. I would be very surprised and impressed if someone can figure it out here.

Go to the task manager and end the steam.exe process. Then wait a few seconds and try to start it again. If that doesn't work, try this. The quake sounds are completely optional. Not having them shouldn't impact your performance at all. What are your specs?

right click it and click launch game sometimes works too

Make sure steam is running before you try and run the game. If it already is then restart steam. If that doesn't work then restart your computer and/or reinstall steam. I'd also recommend going to www.downloadmoreram.com.


Does anyone else hate steam with a passion. It just pisses me off so much. Damnit, I don't want to open steam I just want to play counter strike!

Control - alt - delete

Go to the processes tab, look for steam.exe. Hit end process.

I don't see why everyone hates it, I mean every program has a few bugs, what makes steam any different? If anything, you should hate Valve instead. They're the ones who control it.

so it worked, but now it says my video driver outdated. which driver do i pick when i go to update it, though? theres:
Graphics Driver, platform/nforce drivers,multimedia software,tv tuner drivers, developer tools, quadro performance drivers, workstation applications, games utilities and tools, and consumer 3d stereo. which one do i pick?

It tells me my drivers are out of date too. I just check the box that says dont show this again and play anyway.

Yeah its best to not upgrade them if everything was working fine originally. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. :D
