if im the GM of the Lakers ,i look at it this way. You got 2 years left on your contract ,if we can't get fair value for you ,then your going to play out that contract. I wouldn't make the same mistake as in 2004 with Shaq.
These are the only Kobe trades id do
1. Phoenix - Amare and Barbosa 1# Pick in 2008
Suns would still have - Thomas ,Marion ,Kobe ,Bell ,Nash
2. Atlanta - Joe Johnson and Al Horford . Lakers send Farmar also
Hawks would have -Pachulia ,Josh Smith ,Marvin Williams ,Kobe ,Farmar
3. Bulls - Deng ,Hinrich , PJ Brown (resigned) for 3 years with 1 year guaranteed.
Bulls Lineup - Wallace ,Tyrus Thomas ,Nocioni ,Kobe ,Ben Gordon
4. Phoenix -Marion ,Barbosa 2008 1 # Pick from Atlanta
The 3rd and 4th trades are trades id consider ,but it wouldn't be a definite yes like the 1st two.

Good Point ,but look at it this way. The Suns in 2006 even without Amare advanced to the Western Conference Finals. They would still be a 60 plus win team.
C Kurt Thomas
PF Marion
SF Kobe
SG Raja Bell
PG Nash
The Suns problem is matching up with the Spurs backcourt of Manu and Tony Parker.Duncan is always going to get his points ,but Thomas is a solid low post defender who can do as good a job as anyone in the league on Duncan.

I like the trade to Atlanta for Johnson and Hortford, but do you think the ATL would do it? I would if I were the Lakers for sure, but I don't know about the Hawks, I guess with Kobe they would maybe have a chance to compete in the weak Eastern Conference?

You could send Turiaf along with Kobe to give Atlanta a high energy rebounder at PF. Until Shelden Williams is ready. Atlanta would have be dangerus
C Pachulia
PF Ronny Turiaf
SF Marvin Williams
SG Josh Smith
PG Kobe
Im not sure if Josh could play the 2 ,but they would have a lot of athletic ability.
Lakers
C Andrew Bynum
PF Al Horford
SF Lamar Odom
SG Joe Johnson
PG Javaris Crittenton
Lakers would have a lot of potential.

Getting fair value for Shaq wasn't possible back then. The bigger mistake was trading Caron Butler for Kwame. I believe Kobe has a no-trade clause so he wouldn't go to Atlanta, and Atlanta wouldn't be any better anyway. Replacing a 25ppg scorer with a 30ppg scorer won't put them in the playoffs.
The only problem the Suns have is Amare and Marion not liking each other. They don't need to change their team to beat the Spurs.

kobe is a huge upgrade over joe johnson, they wouldnt be contendors but they would probaly make the playoffs

Kobe could do a lot in the weaker Eastern Conference. He carried the Lakers to 45 and 42 wins in back to back years in a much tougher West.

ya if he goes to like the knicks or the bulls, basically any team besides atlanta, they are instantly a top 5 maybe top 3 team in the east

That might be a little more reasonable to the Suns now that we have Grant Hill too but I still wouldn't do Stoudemire and Barbosa (Marion and Barbosa in a second but the Lakers wouldn't I don't think).

No chance the Bulls give up Deng OR Hinrich; if they trade anyone it will be Gordon and PJ Brown (sign-and-trade). They just resigned Noc and Paxson already said that its not a sign-and-trade.

I know it's only 1 summer league game ,but i like the potential of a Javaris Crittenton ,Ben Gordan ,Luol ,Deng ,Lamar Odom ,Andrew Bynum team.
I think Crittenton is going to be one of the big steals of the draft. The Lakers have not drafted a explosive guard like this since Kobe in 1996.

I know
That trade would just be stupid for the Bulls.

Gordon and PJ Brown is not close to being enough to get Kobe. If Deng was not included then they would have to at least throw in Tyrus Thomas and Sefolosha to go along with Gordon. Even thats not really enough because the Lakers would only be getting back 1 scorer and starter in Gordon.
Tyrus wouldn't be starting over Lamar Odom anytime soon

i'd love to see kobe come to chicago. hate to see gordon leave, i think hes the best player the bulls got right now but thats my opinion.

Javaris Crittenton is looking very good in the Vegas Summer League. I think he can play the shooting guard position at 6-5.
If the Lakers made a trade for Kobe id look to get a athletic SF who will give the team 20 points a game. With Bynum ,Lamar ,Crittenton all starting.
Deng and Gordon or Marion and Barbosa would work for me.
