Im a beginner and I need wrestling shoes, headgear, and kneepads.

How should the shoes fit, what are good brands, what should you look for, and links if any to good sites. I cant find any stores here that sell wrestling gear so I have to buy everything online.

Whats good headgear, I want one that'll protect your ears but not get in your way, and is a neck or chin strap better?

Should I get one or two kneepads? I don't have bad knees, mainly I want them to slide on the mat and get better at the takedowns, but I also dont want to develop bad knees. Money isnt an issue in any of these (unless its ridiculously priced because of a name brand). Thanks for your help guys.

I assume you already have a singlet. The shoes should fit tight. Wrestling shoes are usually hard to get on, but they fit great once they are one. For a beginner, Nike's are perfect. You might want to order better quality online later one. Headgear is not necessary. No one at my school, or my club uses them. Use two. For a few reasons. First, they might screw you up when on partare or on your belly. Also, your opponents will know which leg you shoot with.

im not sure but dont get shoes too tight because you will break your toes(there isnt much protection provided by the shoe)

i always thought it was a rule to wear headgear

In Minnesota it's a rule that you have to wear headgear. I personally didn't like the hard plastic headgear. I got the ones that have a real thin layer of cloth or whatever. They were softer around the outside and fit alot nicer.

Hey I'm looking for kneepads, any tips? I'm directly between the sizes of small and medium, like at the end of small and the beginning of medium. I keep thinking I should go small but then all the blood will be stuck in my legs and if i get medium it might slide around. Suggestions?

tracer or turtle knee pads are the best.
