So, I've decided to redownload this gem, and play it again. I'm posting this as I download. Definitely worth your time if you've never played it.
Wanna play? Click here! (http://sco.gpotato.com/)
So, what is Space Cowboy?
Space Cowboy is different from your regular MMORPG game. While you kill enemies, level up, and buy better gear as in every other MMO. In Space Cowboy, you're not slashing enemies to pieces. You're flying around blasting things in air crafts, or you can even use a tank and blast stuff from the ground.
The game isn't too demanding, and will run pretty well on older PC's. Plus, you can't get a better price tag (free).
Wait, you said it's an RPG? And you fly?
Space Cowboy plays very much like Star Fox's open levels. You fly around in a zone, picking off various enemies. As you kill stuff, you gain exp, and the exp allows you to upgrade whatever craft you choose to use. You pick up loot that the enemies drop, and can either use it or sell it.
So, is there a grind?
It's an RPG isn't it? Yes, there's definitely a grind. Of course, I haven't played an MMORPG that didn't have one. It stays fun for awhile though.
What about PVP?
When you start, you're in a newbie zone. You fly around blowing stuff up, and after a certain level, you're able to choose a faction. There's two different sides to choose from. PvP is fun, and fairly balanced compared to other MMO's. A level 60 player will definitely have the edge over a level 30 player, but the lower level player definitely can kill the higher level player. Things can get pretty chaotic in PvP, and you get to see some large scale battles.
Well I've already played Space Cowboy, and it sucks!
Than fuck off. This thread isn't for you.
I'm a graphics whore, what does the game look like?
The graphics are more than functional. But they're definitely not top of the line. Youtube has videos of the game you can watch. They're easy enough to find.
Okay, Sounds fun! Anything else I should know before I start?
The game also sports a decent MP3 player. I don't remember exactly how it works, but I do remember it's easy enough to figure out. And yes, the song "Tank!" goes great with the game.
-------
I'll let you know what character name I choose when I get in. Plan to make an A-Gear (tanker).
