Man Lair got dogged, I thought it would do much better.

I could tell Lair would suck from the videos. The gameplay looked like it would get old after 5 minutes.

Was that the dragon one?

...

Google says yes.

Yeah, I never saw what all the hype behind that one was about. :confuzed:

Just noticed, Brain Age 2 beat Lair. Maybe I should grab one of those. I've heard good things about Brain Age.

Although I think EGM is a pretty poor magazine nowadays, content wise. Why would their reviews be any less reliable then say, IGN?

I mean, the people who review the games do it on a much more realistic scale, where being rated 6 or so doesn't mean it's a bad game, it just means it's average and nothing special, whilst high numbers are only for games that actually deserve it in the writers opinion. You also get three different opinions on a game, which is way better then just a single persons opinion.

EGM may be a shit magazine, but with a Famitsu style rating system, it's a good source for reviews.

EGM sucks fucking nuts at reviewing, and gamespot especially. Fuckin horrible, shitty excuses and they just aren't fair. Gamespot can especially kiss my ass. IGN is the only real way to go, they do alot better job at it.

So anyone who disagrees with an opinion is trolling?

If you hate people talking about Xbox 360s mistakes and mess ups, why do you bother coming to this forum? Piss off to the fanboy forums where they 'ban' you for liking a PS3.

That's the worst review for Lair as well from EGM.

So, I kinda agree with Xeoset.

Not with the trolling, but compared to other reviews, the games in question (Lair, BD) got decent scores...so far.

Same with Blue Dragon...so much for the 360's star rpg...
[ololololollolololololololololo, so comforting]

360 Mistakes and mess ups? What's with the 's'? There was only one and it's been sorted out at the cost of Microsofts deep pockets. Kind of bold coming from somonw who situates on the Sony side aswell.

Anyway, I can't wait for his opinion on all the American, European and Japanese reviewers all giving this 9+, which is what this discussion is about *cough*

Like I said, piss of to the fanboy forums.

MooCowzRock is mearly expressing his dissapointment for Blue Dragon which you so happen to love to boast about.

You want more Microsoft problems? How about Overheating, Disk Scratching, first Fall of 2006 update patch (bricks their consoles)?

If you can't argue a point or make a valid argument go crawl back to the fanboy hole you came from.

You can tell by the videos that Lair was going to suck and if you played the Blue Dragon demo you'd see how lame it is.

Saw this coming a mile away.

Which Blue Dragon story did you try? The one on the Airship sucked, but the one in the fields was pretty awesome.

Microsoft's deep pockets? lol. Deep indeed, too bad they haven't made a single profit from the 360. So if you're trying to imply the 360 is part of the money, it's not.

Dude, I expressed disappointment for both Lair and Blue Dragon,. so how in the fuck is that trolling!?

Am I trolling for the Wii or PC or something?

lol, for calling me out on being a troll, you are getting extremely defensive about your precious 360. I'm with a guy playing the Blue Dragon demo right now, and seriously, it is not only the most retarded looking game I've ever seen(horrible attempt at a Japanese anime style), but for the fact that it has extremely limited textures and turn-based gameplay that hardly takes any processing power both graphically and through the CPU, it has framerate issues that make the only neat looking part of the game, the battle animations, look like shit. Not to mention the story is really off, and the gameplay is unintuitive and isnt nearly as interesting as Final Fantasy or other popular rpgs...

People may buy it, but I wouldnt pay 60 fucking dollars for it, sorry. If it was 30-40 it would be worth it, but when I talk about whether a game is good or not, I look at it in terms of what I'm paying for, and I'd rather pay 50 dollars for FFXII over 60 for Blue Dragon.

Wahey, an full opinion, finally good to hear it. You give great reasons, but you say its a poor attempt at a Japanese Anime Style? Do you not know hwo the fuck has done the art style for this game?!

Great argument otherwise.

Great argument otherwise.

I was about to mention that. Isn't it Akira Toriyama? The guy that does the art work for the single most popular Anime in America? The guy that did the artwork for many games, including Chrono Trigger and Dragon Warrior? The most recognized artist in Japanese animation?

That guy?

There's nothing wrong with turn based gameplay, other than the fact that you don't like it, or do you? Does anyone else see the hilarity in bashing turn based gameplay and praising the Final Fantasy series in the same paragraph?

Behold, MooCowzRock's argument. (http://www.retroimg.com/work/hindenburg.jpg)

I only did the dungeon that was shaped like a sphere. Honestly I played until 3 battles and then I took it off my xbox. I guess I'm not a fan of the concept behind it, plus the main character ran like he was on speed.

I might give Dynasty Warriors: Gundam a rent though I actually found the demo to be fun.

Can someone post scans of the reviews in question please? How can anybody give an accurate review a month before a game is released? I know reviewers get game early, but come on, how much time could they have spent playing these games? And to whoever said Gamespot's reviews suck, I ask you why? IGN and Gamespot are the only two reviewers I put any stock in nowadays.

The only thing the videos did for Lair was generate hype from the graphics and asskicking the dragon was handing to everything. You're a dirty liar.

And as far as this thread is concerned, turn based rpgs shouldn't even be made anymore. That goes for Blue Dragon and FF.

I pretty sure subscribers should have gotten it by now. I don't know why, but I just got my Sept. 2007 issue of PSM magazine in the mail a couple of days ago. Apparently magazine companies have time machines. Strangely enough it didn't have a single word about Lair in it.

Thanks for the scan. It sounds as if the majority of the complaints are about the sixaxis controls. This is what I was worried about initially. I've never been a big fan of the sixaxis, it's nothing but a gimmick and difficult to find a practical use for it. That's unfortunate for a game who's controls center solely around this feature. I'll give it a rent just to see what could have been I guess.
