When we know 20-30% of MLB was juicing during that timeframe? I love the game and still root the Sox, but in reality... are we cheating ourselves by hating on this guy(Bonds) so hard that one of baseball's greatest moments is chalked up as a bad memory?

I know it's entirely uncool to root for Barry, but come on...Why are rooting for Clemens,or even Sosa? How do we they're clean?

I am sure lots of MLB players used the juice even other pro athletes even if they deny it because roids have been around for a lot longer then 2001 when Bonds hit 73. Early 90's or late 80s even is when the steroid phenomena started.

Blasphemy, you speak! Gonzo was not juiced! NOT AT ALL! *puts fingers in ears* I CAN'T HEAR YOU! LALALALALALA!

Amen, brother, amen.

As for the original post, I don't really think we are cheating ourselves in that you or I would go to jail if we were caught using steroids. It's illegal. But once again we see if you're a celebrity, the laws don't quite apply to you in the same way.
I honestly would not be surprised if Bud Selig gave Barry the shit himself. Same with Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa. Baseball was still reeling from the strike several years prior. It needed something to get fan's butts back int he seats. Here comes a season long home run derby, put on by two guys who not too long before that were skinny little kids.

I'm pulling for Bonds...I've always liked him. Possibly the greatest hitter of all time. Guys like Aaron piss me off. There were plenty of things, especially pain medicines, back then that are illegal now, and all those guys used them. Hell, the guy Bonds hit the record tying homerun off of had previously been suspended for using steroids while in the minors. If Bonds tested positive tomorrow, he'd serve his suspension then come back, it's complete bullshit that people want to throw out his records and ad asterisks and other bullshit. Dumbfucks will always find something to bitch about when someone is about to break a record they revere. We look back on the drama that surrounded Maris' 61 homeruns and laugh. We make HBO movies about how hard he had it and what he had to deal with. We joke about how people wanted to add an asterisk and then the masses call for an asterisk or some other reaction to this. It's hypocritical to the extreme. Asking for an asterisk to be added to Maris' HR record made more sense than for Bonds even...it's fucking rediculous...get over it.
