It's definitely your processor. 2.0ghz isn't a lot and the minimum requirements is a 2.4GHz.

It's definitely your processor. 2.0ghz isn't a lot and the minimum requirements is a 2.4GHz.

The minimum requirement is a 2.4 GHz single core processor. I think Athlon X2's are dual core processors.

Minimum System Requirements:
* Operating Systems: Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) or Windows Vista
* CPU: Pentium 4 2.4GHz Single Core processor
* System RAM: 1GB
* Video Card: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 128MB RAM (NVIDIA 6600 or better/ATI X1300 or better, excluding ATI X1550).
* Sound Card: 100% direct X 9.0c compatible sound card Hard disc space: 8GB free space

Recommended System Requirements:
* Operating Systems: Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) or Windows Vista
* CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo processor
* System RAM: 2GB
* Video card: DX9: Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM (NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT or better) DX10: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or better
* Sound Card: Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ series (Optimized for use with Creative Labs EAX ADVANCED HD 4.0 or EAX ADVANCED HD 5.0 compatible sound cards)

It's probably because you only have 1 GB of RAM.

You should be fine for medium settings. I can pull of semi-mediums with my P4 3.0 @ 3.4, 2g PC 3200, 6800 with pipes unlocked...granted, it's a bit laggy but it will be fine until Xmas when I upgrade.

There are no official SC2 specs but given Blizzards engine history you should be fine. Their engines are usually very forgiving and scalable.

You should be able to play it on medium settings ...

Well... I have
A AMD Athlon 64 3700+ @ 2.2 ghz (single core)
1 GB of RAM
A Nvidia 7900GT

and I run the game near perfect at highest settings. I've tried higher res but I don't like the way it looks but it runs good still. The main thing holding me back the most is my cpu but it's still sufficient for this game.

By the way, near perfect means acceptable FPS, rare, if any, slowdowns and decent loading times.

I'm pissed, computer gaming is such a pain in the ass anymore these games are too power hungry. When I was younger I didn't mind upgrading, mainly because I used christmas money grandma gave me to buy a new computer every year. Past years of being an adult and upgrading every year is such a drag.

Just spent a grand last november on core2duo set up, now I'm going to be spending another grand this september/october for quadcore setup.

I would rather just dump $2,000 now for a balls to the walls computer, next year some nice new eye candy features will be available and I'll be missin' out.

well i was thinking of getting another ram and video card...
I wouldnt dump my old video card Id just use it together with the new one with the SLI feature
So here comes my question: would an xfx nvidia 8600 gt work in SLI with an xfx nvidia 8800 gts...?
And would i need to get another power supply? Mine is currently 550W...
EDIT: and yes my processor is double core so 2.0+2.0...

No. No. No.

SLI only works with 2 identical graphics cards, unfortunatley. It would be nice if Nvidia change it so you can use two kinds, however for now two different cards do not work in SLI.

lawl k, btw do i have to buy the same type of ram i already have in or not?

EDIT: I know I'm a noob on pc and stuff but I bought a fan which is too fucking huge... and my sidedoor of the case wont fit so I had to take the plastic glass off of the sidedoor, and then I was able to put the sidedoor nicely... Wont it matter to have a hole where the glass used to be?

I am afraid that bugs can get in there or dust...

there's this great thing called "Google", as well as the game site which gives you recommended and minimum specs.

Not everyone plans on spending 250$ for a DX10 card, idiot.

Knoxxftw

theres no point in wasting your money on a 8600. if you dont wanna spend. you could always wait for 9 series to come out dropping the price of the 8 series.

8600's blow

jonathon its not gonna be a 8900 its gonna go back to 9800 or 9900 something like that (has a 9)
