Can't see many improvements other than graphically...

PES - Practically Everything's the Same

Too true, would it really hurt the Football genre to have a bit of 'innovation'?

I agree... looks like a graphical upgrade to the soccer game I played on my N64 back in the day.

Of course, that's how most sports games go. No real gameplay additions, mostly updated graphics and rosters.

isn't it a bit premature to make these deductions from a minute of gameplay video?

I hope they get rid of the farmer's field pitch. I really hated that :wah:

EDIT: The pitch I mean is shown 7 seconds into the video. Although it's taken from PES5, the pitch remained in PES6: http://youtube.com/watch?v=GeaWzo2GiJw

Yes but how can you improve on Pro Evo other than graphically?

"Innovation"!? What the fruit and nut are you talking about? This game is as close to the real thing as you are gonna get, what more do you want? Konami to maybe Americanise it with cheerleaders, fireworks or maybe multi-ball?

Yes, yes it is.

Fifa 08 is better.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!! :lmao:  :lmao:
You are a moron of the highest order.
The last good FIFA game was FIFA 98, anyone with any football appreciation would know this.
Pro Evo is for the football conesiuers, FIFA is for people who prefer shiny graphics over gameplay and realism.

I would honestly rather have a PS1 with FIFA 98 than an XBOX 360 with FIFA 2007, seriously.

The sooner EA Sports gets back to basics (gameplay) the sooner they might challenge Konami bcoz at the minute Pro Evo is Champions League and FIFA is MLS.

Make the pitch bigger, it's really small in reality.
Make the ref fairer.
Make the offside rule somewhat realistic.
Make the computer stop cheating when it's losing by a goal in the last few minutes.
Better commentary.

OMG yes! I had to get rid of PES5 because I was in ML mode, and couldn't get past a certain match because it was played on that pitch, which made my eyes bleed.

Thats fine, you stick to your FIFA 07, and while you are at it go eat your sister's snatch out with a spoon you inbred window-licker.

QR I do agree with you on the cheating the computer does on PES when you are winning, it fucks me right off when you cant win the ball back and you know its gonna result in them scoring and it always does :preachon: :banghead: Also you are right about the commentary but great news..... Lawro is doing commentary for the new game, epic!

Oh and that pitch is wank, who would play on a pitch that looked like it should have crops growing on it, it send my eyes funny after a while.

How about changing the way you play? How about having a third person view of the player following him? How about having to target where you shoot rather than just clicking a button and passing?

Where as Gears of War brought a new concept to shooters by showing third person works. Or how MMORPGS evolved from RPGs?

It doesn't hurt to try out new things, this game looks, plays and is exactly the same as the hundreds of clones before ... !!! Oh wait that small man looks more like some overpaid asshole in this version.

Here's my take on the Fifa vs Pro Evo.

Since the year 1996, I have been playing Fifa, absolutely religiously, grew up with it through it's hugely massive steps graphic wise from the 97-98 versions, right upto the latest Fifa 2007.

I've never really enjoyed Pro Evo over the years, mainly because I've never liked the arcadey-ness feel to it, and of course it's graphics disadvantage to Fifa.

After being round mates houses and always buying the new Fifa's year after year, ever since after Fifa 2001 the game has hugely hit rock bottom. Badly. It seems after 2004 the only improvements to the games have been technique wise and game additions, rather than the actual football game itself. Albeit every year I've gotten more and more frustrated with the Fifa games, it finally hit me on the 2007 version. So, oh so many flaws that I cannot begin to start on what's wrong with it.

The most annoying one is that you can get to the edge of the box, hold down one of the back buttons and hit the ball between 25% and 75% power and the ball with almost 98% go into the back of the net, with the keeper just flapping his hands at it like a down syndrome penguin. Every single fucking time, it shows the complete lack of variation in Fifa games since 2004. You could always find a way to score like this in each one from the past few years back. And there is so much automatic aids in the game which make it hardly playable and not very free to do what you want.

Now bear in mind I'm a huge Fifa fan and have grown up playing since the Mega Drive/Genesis days. But 2007 was the final straw for me.

So I decided to buy (Ahem) Pro Evo 6 and try it out as a breath of fresh air. Yes it still has that arcadey feeling about it, and it does have it's pretty bad flaws, but oh my, it's so much more of a football game than Fifa. It doesn't need to rely heavily on graphics as it has it's very open free-play on it, and there doesn't seem to be many auto-aids in the game. It's very frustrating at first to get the grips with the shooting, especially if you've been playing fifa (Which you can shoot at a certain amount of power and it'll do the same thing over and over) because the whole passing/shooting system is based on timing. Which is absolutely genuis and much more realistic.

I can see me playing Pro Evo in the next few years rather than Fifa.

There's more I could ramble on about but I won't as this post is long enough and I need a poo.
