also in bioshock do you rarely find enemies (like one enemy every 30-60+ secs)

or is it constant fighting?

You can run it, you got a dual core processor and DX10.

You could use another GB of Ram though. also, you should give us better specs than that.

For example:

Windows XP SP2
P4 Single core at 2.53GHz
1GB RAM
ATI Radeon X1300 256MB DX9
250GB HDD.

sweet, ram was my main worry though, really need to upgrade that.

BTW is bioshock amazing enough to make up for the lack of mutliplayer?

Wait a minute, since when did HP put DX10 cards in their computers? Something doesn't add up here. I would have to see a graphics card to confirm this, since there was none on the list. This is a make-or-break part.

I googled a6042n and came up with HP Pavilion a6042n-b.
If it's the same as the one being sold on eBay it should be a nVidia GeForce 6150 SE Graphics 128MB dedicated, up to 319MB total.

Here's the eBay link:

If that is your graphics card ... no it will not play Bioshock

If your graphics card is a Geforce <number 7 or 8>600 or <number 6, 7 or 8>800

Oh and you have to change your PC name ... thats just lame.

You don't need DX10 to run Bioshock anyways.

No but if you are running DX10 it means you have a Geforce 8 or Ati thing, which means its a powerful card.

..... how the hell can people say that it will be game of the year with no MP?

thats a bad move for an FPS

Yup, this game looks like Multiplayer could be awsome. Many worst games have been knocked down for lacking multiplayer as well.

On-board video controllers are the noes for playing this gen PC games.

That said, never purchase a PC for gaming unless it's from a company that specializes in building gaming specific rigs.

I'm pretty sure in vista it says you have DX10 regardless of what graphics hardware you have.

I think you are running integrated because it says you have 894mb of ram which indicates 128mb is being used for graphics memory. You are definitely going to need a graphics card.

Yea which sucks because battlefield doesn't work well with dx10 or vista

Uhhh.....Deus Ex, Doom and Quake before their added modem capability, The first two System Shocks, and probably others I can't even think of were all game of the year in some year.

Wait, wait. Half Life 1 and 2. For their single player campaigns, also recieved game of the year.

What? Are people fucking stupid? Not so much rand0m, but a game does not need multiplayer do be good or to be game of the year. It's a single player experience, not a multiplayer game.

Let's list some of the best games of all time that are single player (a few have some multi games)
Zelda
Mario
MGS
Final Fantasy
Myst
Doom
Resident Evil
why should I even continue...

Just because a game isn't overloaded with 9000 features that it doesn't need, doesn't mean it can't be game of the year. Bioshock will prove this, even though too many others have already. Think before you type.

Just got back from my mates house, he just bought Bioshock for the PC and found out rather soon it just wont run high settings on a 7800gt, the game just overloads the gpu and makes it crash.

i'm pretty sure thats a driver issue. its not normal for a game to overload a GPU. Rather it would just make extremely low frame rates. dont know a lot about the 7800 GT spec wise tho. so who knows. + i dont have that problem :)

Yup a major problem that wouldn't go away no matter what drive i used, updated the BIOS to the 3 verisons avaliable, used 4 different Nvidia drivers, etc etc

No matter what I did everytime it loaded it crashed. Then you wake the graphics down, and well it worked flawlessly.

Well my computer can't even run the demo from steam, wtf. Nothing shows up properly in the game, and I have no cursors in the menu. Same thing happened on my school's computers which are Dell XPS's.
