I'm sure it's probably just a budget limitation, but the armor looks kind of silly in live action. They need to put more effort into the costume design for the actual film (if it ever actually gets made). I don't want Chief looking and moving like that on the big screen.

For what it is, the video was actually pretty kick ass though, and It should be interesting to see what else is on the way.
That said...those SPARTANS lost their cool way too easily. Even if they aren't SPARTAN II's, they should have been kicking ass and taking names.

:redface:...ah...cut me some slack. The armor doesn't look the same as it does in game on the ODSTs either, and I just figured they were showing off a new armor type. I'm glad that is the case though. I'd be really disappointed if the Spartans looked like that in the movie.

It's not a trailer, and it was made very cheaply. These short films are being produced by Jackson and directed by Blomkamp in order to both work as an advertisement for Halo 3, and to hopefully convince the studio to let them go ahead with the movie. It's basically this saying "This is what we were able to produce with the spare change we found in the sofa...now let us have the money to make it really incredible".

They had, at most, about 10 thousand dollars to make that thing and a very tight shooting schedule I'm sure. You can't expect it to be fucking epic under those conditions. I'm confident that the hypothetical 150 million dollar movie will fare much better.

It's a pre-production trailer. Movies look rough until editing/music/effects happen. That was simply a proof of concept video. They shoot those to get the movie execs on board.

This is a short list of directors who have made videogame adaptations. Can you give me one name on that list that has actually produced anything worth watching? Videogame adaptations don’t fail because games can’t produce good movies. They fail because the material is given to shitty filmmakers. You could give any one of those guys Shakespeare and they would fuck it up just as bad.

The proof that videogames can produce good movies exists in at least two hugely popular film franchises right now. One is Transformers, and the other is Pirates of the Caribbean. One is based on a toy line, and the other is based on a theme park ride. If you can make a good movie out of those things you can make one out of a videogame.
