Wow, something needs to be done about the ads

I don't go to the front page anymore really, and recently I was reminded why. You go to watch a video, and about 2 seconds in BOOM, you're invaded by a giant expanding flash banner up top. You go to hit close, and the margin for error is so small that you manage to click the banner, and a window pops up infront of you (smooth move, way to get clicks). After you're done battling that, you try to figure out what's going on in the video, and BAM, another expanding flash ad rapes you from the right side. You close that, but they put the button on the right, so as you move your mouse back to the left, it grazes the ad and it expands again. You have to close it one more time, and maneuver your mouse around the ad, so not to awake it again. Then when you're all settled, the banner at the top cycles to a different banner, and THAT one expands all over your shit. At this point, you type into the address bar "break.com" and watch the videos there, because they don't have any of that stuff. :)

Maybe seek some non-expanding ads for the site?

Yeah the current add is some guys talking about pop-ups, next thing you know there is an explosion on the screen. I know thats fucking up someones browser.

Shit its been so long since I've seen an ad that I forgot there are advertisements on the internet. Get firefox and adblock plus.

Forcing a user to accidentally click on an ad for something they most likely are not even interested in is a fucked up way of running a site.

BUT it works, and for the owners of this site it must be working well.

Unfortunately, for a site that sells next to nothing, the only real way is to make money off advertising.


There is only one way I can see the ads getting shittier, and that would be to show a 15 second ad before every video clip on the site loads. Why not go for that kind of advertising Ebaumsworld? Hell, it will annoy us all even more, but at least you would really be pulling some major ad cash!

Or try implementing endless pop up ads that keep popping up even if you close them until the user's computer crashes!

I'm pretty sure ebaums sold out to another company. Also get adblock plus, I haven't seen any ads on the front page for a while.

Today it seems they made the background an ad... pretty sad I have to block that too.
