Get an R4. Save yourself the money you'll be spending on games. I know realhotstuff.com has them but there are better websites.

Because I bought one once and thought it was a really good idea but then I hardly ever played it, I never played it because it was boring and there aren't really any games out for it that are worth the money.

You're full of shit. The only way I'll believe you actually bought a DS is if you admit to doing no research before hand and knowing nothing about the damn thing.

Also, OP, make sure you buy an R4 and get these 5 games:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Kirbys Canvas Curse
Advanced Wars DS
Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan 1 or 2
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow

No, I did plenty to research on it before I bought it.

Those games are a fucking joke, they either suck, are for 12 year olds, or they are boring. There is no reason to own a DS if you are over 13 years old.
