Soundboards are not for pranks anymore?

Has anyone visited that site called soundboard.com where they have that program for you to build a mini sound player? I didnt care much for the site, but what I did not like the most was how the owner of the site bashed celebrity soundboard pranks by saying they were childish with this statement in his FAQ section......

"Q. Aren't soundboards used to make prank phone calls?

A. Traditionally yes but that is NOT what our site is about. We are redefining what a soundboard is and trying to bring it into the mainstream. Prank phone calls are great - if you're 13 years old.

Our site is designed to be a 'library of sound' we think the 'soundboard' is a terrific media to deliver short and entertaining sound bites you can explore and share.

Soundboards aren't for prank calls anymore - they are for SOUND. All types of sounds from Churchill to kids to music and travel."

This guy saying that "prank calls are great if you are 13" really shows how much he actually gets out of the house because I know people of all ages who love prank calls. I guess anyone is free to promote their site anyway they want, even if that includes bashing the main group of people who use soundboards. It seems like he wants to put an end to using soundboards for fun, and make them educational only. Soundboards will always be for prank calls, and that clown will never change this!!!

He's probably taking a negative approach to prank calling, simply because he wants to establish his site as something different. He wants to make his site an archive of sounds, that the user controls. He could have gone about it in a better way, instead of portraying a negative view point. He should realize many of his visitors are prank calling enthusiasts and he even has a section entitled prank calls. I'll say that he does have a very nice and organized site, but its limited for true prank callers. The soundboards he has on his site, although feature full are limited in that they are not full screen and categorized for easy pranking. I don't think he cares about this, because that's not what he's trying to provide, but my point is, many prank callers should visit other soundboard hosting sites for their pranking needs.

He has a point in stating that, soundboards aren't only for prank calling. I don't think the very first soundboards were for prank calling anyway. Many radio stations used soundboards for sound effects and playing audio quotes. He's simply providing a site that lets a user do the same in a very simplified fashion. Hopefully someone takes a similar approach, but with prank callers in mind, and makes a web based platform to create more traditional prank calling soundboards. I wouldn't work myself up over his comments in the FAQs.

I think it is an awful site. Really pointless - not even proper soundboards, just stupid lists.

Soundboards don't have to be for pranks, but they don't have to be completely shit either. :motz_6:

He's just tryng to get different attention and by doing so I think he's losing the majority of people who went there by insulting them.

I made my chris hansen soundboard from the "Sounds" on the chris hansen one they had. I also took some from the Ventrillo Harassment videos as well. I think that soundboards have a different use than JUST prank calls, nowadays, they can be used to annoy gamers and random people in online voice chats! Which is awesome.
