I almost flipped when I made a whole new account to get by the minimum specs check and it didn't work. I then cleared my cookies, which made me avoid putting my fist through my monitor. The official specs say I can run this on low, so fuck you Fileplanet.

It said I failed too b/c my cpu is only at 2.6 GHz. I'll be able to run it though at a good fps.

Jesus Christ, am I missing a patch or something? Nearly every texture is yellow and black. My ping is 200 at best on a ten-person server. Some textures load as the game progresses. The maps are completely empty due to the low population. I can run everything incredibly smoothly at low, but I swear that over 50% of the textures are placeholders. Maybe it's just my RAM, but it's looking like ass so far. Is this just to shit on low-end computers or is there placeholders on every setting? Am I missing a key patch and the servers still let me connect? I tried checking for the latest version but EA's stupid fucking website won't load, a symptom of being so flashy that it fucks everything up.

I didn't download this and expect to be shooting trees apart and tearing down shanties, but I did expect a game that looks to be at least at the alpha stage. What's wrong?

Edit: The recommended gpu requirements also lists each feature(512mb video ram, 3D acceleration, video HW transform and lighting, vertex shader 3.0, and pixel shader 3.0) which I pass on every one.

You should definitely be fine running at least medium, maybe medium-high.

Well... kinda disappointing for a public beta. I couldn't see shit in game except the ground and the shadows of buildings. It took me 20 minutes to find the way out of spawn.

It started out with a shitload of missing textures but it got better as time went by.

I hope it gets more.... playable soon =]

From what I've tinkered around with. I can run it smooth at medium settings with most set to medium, some set to low (shadows) and most set to medium with a decent fps.

Well Aside from the game been graphically demanding, it is also severly CPU intensive.

Gaming isn't just about Graphics cards now, you're going to need a decent CPU.

Get the Core 2 Duo, nearly no games support the quadcore and do not use all of its power. The Core 2 Duo you posted is really good for games and applications.

Tons of games out now are already multi-threaded. Upcoming games like UT3, Alan Wake, and our beloved Crysis will fully utilize a Q6600.

IMO, getting the e6850 is a waste unless you are taking advantage of the unlocked multi. IE using water or phase to get huge OCs. You can easily pull off 3.0Ghz with the e6400 you have now.

If you aren't overclocking, the Quad makes way more sense because you would only be getting a 900mhz increase over getting an additional 2 more cores. That is if your playing recent games. Plus you can expect a pretty substantial OC with the Q6600 if you ever feel the need.

there is no reason to overclock the Q6600. there are no games on the market that even use the Q6600 to it's full capacity. not even crysis will use the Q6600 to it's full capacity. in fact, the UT3 recommended processor spec is 2.4 dual core. so you can imagine how Q6600 would already be overkill and would reap no benefits by being overclocked. no sense in risking damage to your processor when you get no benefits from it.

Also with thermal throttling and some basic common sense, it's next to impossible to damage todays processors with overclocking. Most of the 3.2GHz overclocks you see on the Q6600s are done with a very small increase in Vcore.

There is NO SUCH THING as overkill in a gaming PC.:rollseyes A gaming PC is all about having the best and smoothest experience possible.

buy a Q6600 if you want, but do not overclock it. it will do nothing. no sense in risking damage when it won't enhance anything. no game on the market fully utilizes the Q6600 right now, not even crysis or UT3. they recommend 2.4 ghz dual core for those games.



the only way you will notice benefits from a Q6600 is if you do alot of video editing, or if you run multiple applications simultaneously, as in photoshop and after effects.
