Just broke out my old nes and games.
I got super mario 3, super mario and duck hunt, teenage mutant ninja turtles, duck tails, ice hockey and a few others.
I also got 2 controlers, a zapper and a game genie.
Great freaking system. Post your nes stories and whats your favorite game.
Besides mario and duck hunt, tmnt is the best game ever.

Some of the best memories of my childhood were playing the original legend of zelda game on the NES.

Get Tecmo Bowl. The original, not Super Bowl.

California Games FTW. I also liked Silent Service.

Actually my very first game system was a Coleco Vision (which my mom still has packed away in her garage somewhere). Then came the NES which I got for Christmas...the whole Robbie Robot deal that cost a whopping $150 back then in 1986/87 I think it was.

My first game was of course Super Mario Brothers which came with it as well as Duck Hunt (I hate that fucking dog that comes up and laughes at you). I even recall that about a year after the Nintendo went big time, local video rental stores were hosting two things:

1. Top Gun was the big movie out
2. Events where kids could sign up to play SMB and whoever got the most points in 5 minutes of game play would win a Top Gun hat.

I won the hat coming in first place. I don't even recall the route I took now but I recall spending hours and hours playing through different routes, taking the warp, not taking the warp, where the most coins were in what secret tubes and all that shit.

Good times. It'll never be the same as it was in the 80s where MTV, Maxheadroom, Dave TV and the NES reigned supreme. I am 31 now though with two boys...in a way I kind of envy them because they are going to start gaming in a few years and have a lifetime to see it evolve into what I would consider insane shit. To them though it will be like "meh" because they weren't there at the beginning.
